Why I Refuse to Believe My Best Years Have an Expiry Date

For a really long time, I wondered why people talk about aging like it is something women should fear.
A strange pressure placed on women to hold on to their younger selves for as long as possible. We are constantly reminded of what we used to look like, what we used to have, and what we used to be able to do.

Somewhere along the way, many women begin to feel like their best moments belong to the past.

I personally have never agreed with that idea.
I believe I am always going to be in my prime.

I do not think a woman’s best years are determined by her age. They are shaped by the person she becomes.

When I was younger, I had a very different idea of what it meant to be at my best. I thought it was about being admired. I thought it was about looking beautiful, feeling confident, and having people notice you. I believed the most exciting parts of life happened when you were young enough to be fearless and had not experienced enough disappointment to change you.

Growing up changed that perspective.
I started seeing that there is something powerful about becoming a woman who understands what she wants, trusts her own decisions, and no longer feels the need to explain every choice she makes.
That kind of confidence cannot be bought, and it cannot be measured by age.

I have met young women who were unsure of themselves and older women who carried a confidence that filled every room they entered. Their ages were different, but what stood out was their understanding of themselves.

A woman does not suddenly become less valuable because she gets older. Life does not take away from her. It adds to her. Every experience leaves something behind. Every challenge teaches something. Every chapter introduces a new part of who she is.

I think many women struggle because we are constantly comparing our lives to expectations that were created before we even had a chance to decide what we wanted.

There is an invisible timeline that society encourages women to follow. When life does not match that timeline, many of us start questioning ourselves.

We wonder if we are behind, if we missed our chance, if everyone else has figured life out except us. Forgetting that life was never designed to happen in one specific order.

Some women discover their passion early. Others find it after years of trying different things. Some women rebuild their lives after making decisions that no longer fit who they are.

There is no shame in becoming.

I have learned to appreciate every version of myself.
The younger version of me carried dreams, excitement, and a willingness to experience life without having all the answers. The woman I am today has gained a deeper understanding of herself. I know what matters to me. I know where my energy belongs. I know the things I cannot continue carrying. And that is something I am proud of.

I look forward to meeting the woman I will become in the future because I know she will carry lessons I have not learned yet.

I do not see aging as losing something. I see it as collecting. You collect memories. You collect wisdom. You collect stories that remind you of how much you have survived and how much you have grown.

The woman I become years from now will not be someone I need to mourn. She will be someone I get to meet.

Instead of spending our lives trying to prove we are still young enough, we should focus on becoming women we are proud to be.

There is so much freedom in knowing that every stage of life can hold something beautiful.
Your younger years may introduce you to yourself.
Your present years may help you understand yourself.
Your future years may reveal parts of yourself you never knew existed.
Every chapter has something to offer.
I am not afraid of becoming older because I know my worth is not attached to a number.
My beauty is not limited to one season of my life.
My dreams do not have an expiration date.
My confidence does not disappear because time passes.
I am always going to be in my prime because my prime is not a place I reach once and leave behind.
It is something I carry with me.

As long as I am learning, growing, loving, creating, and becoming a better version of myself, there will always be more beautiful moments ahead.

My best years are not behind me.
They are still being written.😌

If this post made you feel seen, even for a moment, I wrote even more about these feelings in my book.

Permission to Feel, Freedom to Live is a book about the emotions we struggle to name, the parts of ourselves we hide, the pressure women carry, and the journey of finding our way back home to ourselves.

I wrote these pages with so much honesty, love, and care because I know what it feels like to have feelings you cannot explain and experiences you are still trying to understand.

If my words have ever found you at the right time, made you pause, helped you process something, or reminded you that you are not alone, I believe this book will mean something special to you.

My first book is officially available for preorder.
You can preorder your copy through the link in my bio at a discounted price before the offer ends.

And please share this with a woman who needs the reminder that her best years are not behind her. They are still being written.🥹
