The Endorphin Azura has earned the title of a “do-it-all” lightweight trainer among our team of testers and is suitable for a wide range of runners. These include The Tempo Runner, as it is a quick, comfortable, and responsive shoe for uptempo efforts, but less aggressive than some plated models, making it a great transition shoe. It is also great for The Daily Runner, offering a fantastic blend of comfort and responsiveness for everyday mileage, and for The Smart Shopper, as it’s a high-performance, affordable option for new runners or those just starting serious training.
Fit and Feel: Step-in Comfort
In terms of fit, the shoe is universally agreed to be true to size in length. Feedback on Volume & Width varied slightly by foot shape, with testers finding it ranged from having a decent toe box with room to splay, to being a little snug on the sides for wider feet. Security is excellent with lockdown and no heel slippage, though one tester with narrow feet had to re-lace to get their fit dialed in. The Upper uses a highly breathable and light mesh, described as “airy” even in cold weather, which makes the shoe feel lightweight and “disappear once on the foot.” Finally, the Initial Ride is described as firm but responsive, feeling softer as you get moving, though the foam may require a few runs to properly “break-in.”
The Ride: SpeedRoll and Stability
The dynamic performance is where the Endorphin Azura really shines. Most testers rated the Cushioning a 3 out of 5, striking a balance that feels responsive and firm enough to propel you forward, while still plenty protective. The Transition is characterized by a very nice and smooth heel-to-toe roll, thanks to Saucony’s SpeedRoll geometry, making the ride fluid and easy to pick up the pace. Finally, for stability, while it is a neutral shoe, it was consistently described as stable, even supporting a tester with high arches comfortably.
