Patent Wines consists of two men well-known in the California wine industry: winemaker Tom Rinaldi and general manager Eric Risch. Rinaldi made his reputation for meticulous winemaking at Duckhorn from 1978 to 2000, a distinction he continues with Patent Wines. The focus here is not on merlot, as it was at Duckhorn, but on cabernet sauvignon.
