• Carer

• Caretaker

Versus

• Care partner and Care partnering

Do words matter? I think so.

In this case, I’m going to start referring to my wife and myself as care partners. I think the key for me is the two-way part of that relationship. That—

• I’m giving AND receiving

• We’re learning together

• We’re growing together

• We’re in this together

In my earlier posts, I struggled to describe the care relationship between my wife and me. Care partners feel much richer and more real for me now, so I’ll be using those words consistently in my future posts.
