The Name Behind the Name

Some things begin with a plan. Others begin with a conversation between people who already know each other’s silences.

beSeSi began with the second kind.

We are three, twin sisters and a cousin. We didn’t sit down one day and decide to build a brand. It happened the way the best things happen: gradually, then all at once. A shared frustration with things that felt empty. A shared belief that what you make should carry something real. A shared last name that, it turned out, had been pointing us here all along.

Our last name has a meaning we grew up with, a soldier skilled with a horse and a sword. Someone steady and capable, the kind of person who shows up fully for what they care about. As children, we thought it was just a family story. A nice thing to know about where we come from.

We didn’t realize it was also a blueprint.

Our roots trace back to the Turkmens of Central Asia, a people who moved across vast lands and carried their identity with them through all of it. They built things with their hands. They passed down not just objects but the values behind them: patience, craftsmanship, and a quiet pride in doing things properly.

Somewhere along the way, without quite planning it, we started living that same story.

The horseshoe and the sword in our logo come from all of that. From them. From us. Not a decoration, a reminder.

When the three of us began building beSeSi, the name came before almost everything else.

Se from one sister. Si from the other. And be at the front, the most open word there is. To exist. To grow. To simply be.

Say it out loud a few times: beSeSi. Something else appears. Be sassy. Bold and self-aware and a little playful. We noticed that early on and smiled. A name can hold more than one truth. Ours holds at least two.

The two sisters carry the creative heart of beSeSi, every design, every material, every detail you see and touch. The cousin brings the kind of thinking that turns a heartfelt idea into something that can actually reach the world. Between the three of us, there is very little we don’t question, debate, reconsider, and eventually agree on.

That process, slow, honest, sometimes stubborn, is in every piece we make.

We chose never to use animal-derived materials because we believe beautiful things don’t need to come at anyone’s expense. We chose to make each design in a limited number because we wanted every single piece to receive real attention, not just efficient production. When a design finds its last home, it rests there. We don’t bring it back. We move forward and make the next thing with the same care.

This isn’t a formula. It’s just how we think.

Our hope is simple: that when something from beSeSi lands in your hands, you feel that someone thought about this. Not just the shape or the color, but the whole thing, where it comes from, how it’s made, and what it means to own something that was created with genuine intention.

We are twin sisters and a cousin, with a family name we’re proud of, making things we hope bring a little more meaning into your everyday life.

And we didn’t get here alone.

Behind every decision, every late night, every moment of doubt that turned into clarity, there were people who believed in this before it had a name. People who listened, encouraged, and quietly held space for what this could become. They are woven into beSeSi just as much as we are, even if their names don’t appear on the label. This is for them too.
