Phase 2, Sprint 3 of the AgentX–AgentBeats competition is underway, and the deadline is approaching quickly! All submissions are due by this Sunday, May 3rd, and we can’t wait to see the great projects you’re submitting! We’ve opened the submission form for Sprint 3, which you can access by clicking the button below!

For Phase 2, participants are building purple agents to tackle the select top green agents from Phase 1 and compete on the public leaderboards. Unlike Phase 1, where participants competed across all tracks throughout the entire duration, Phase 2 introduces a sprint-based format. The competition is organized into four rotating sprints.

  • Sprint 4 (5/4-5/24): General Purpose Agents, the grand finale of AgentBeats Phase 2, where everything culminates.
    AgentX–AgentBeats is the first competition to explicitly spotlight general-purpose agents, testing broad capability, adaptability, and robustness across diverse tasks rather than a single domain. While earlier sprints emphasize depth, this final sprint showcases breadth and real-world readiness.

Participants are encouraged to compete in multiple tracks across multiple sprints during Phase 2. Teams and team members who submit purple agents in any sprint will also be eligible to enter a raffle for free tickets to the Agentic AI Summit later this year.

  • Last week, OpenAI announced GPT-5.5, describing it as its most capable and intuitive model to date, with improvements in coding, research, data analysis, document creation, and software use. The company said GPT-5.5 maintains similar latency to prior models while using fewer tokens on coding tasks in Codex, and was evaluated with expanded safety testing and external red teaming before release. OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman said the model represents progress toward more agentic computing and a unified “super app” that combines tools like ChatGPT and Codex in one interface.

  • Anthropic and Google announced plans for Google to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic, including expanded compute support. The investment includes $10 billion at a $350 billion valuation and up to $30 billion more tied to performance targets in the future. Anthropic has also recently secured other infrastructure and funding agreements, including a data center deal with CoreWeave and an additional $5 billion investment from Amazon tied to long-term compute capacity. The company currently relies on Google Cloud infrastructure, including tensor processing units, and has an existing partnership with Broadcom for future TPU-based capacity.

  • SpaceX, the parent company of xAI, announced a partnership with AI coding platform Cursor, with the option to acquire the company for $60 billion later this year or alternatively pay $10 billion for a collaboration. SpaceX said the project combines Cursor’s product and distribution among software engineers with its Colossus supercomputer, which it claims has compute capacity equivalent to roughly one million Nvidia H100 chips. Cursor, developed by Anysphere, said the partnership will expand its access to large-scale compute for model training. TechCrunch previously reported that Cursor was targeting a $50 billion valuation in a fundraising round, following prior valuations of $2.5 billion in early 2023, $9 billion in mid-2023, and $29.3 billion after a Series D raise.

  • Meta and Amazon have signed a multibillion-dollar, multi-year agreement for Meta to deploy tens of millions of AWS Graviton chip cores to support its AI initiatives and agent-based systems. The companies said the deployment will begin at scale with flexibility to expand, with most infrastructure located in the United States, and the deal is expected to span approximately three to five years. AWS said Graviton processors, including Graviton5, are designed for CPU-intensive workloads such as reasoning, code generation, and multi-step task execution, alongside GPU-based training systems.
