CW, thank you for sending me this address by Rupert Lowe. It is idealistic in a country where ideals are only understood as moral standards by the few and are replaced by short term goals – e.g. holidays – material purchases etc. Lowe’s chances of forming a new party to redeem the UK are sadly delusionary even if correct.

They real problem is that a combination of British liberalism and laxity has enabled the State to be infiltrated by those whose motives are far removed from Lowe’s long past values – now labelled as fascist, particularly by the young.

Inherent now in the UK are left wing teachers and academics and local councils run by the self interested such as Moslem groups who now have associates in Parliament and across the law and civil services. Business as so often in the UK is seen of far lesser interest to the public and the media than pop stars and actors.

I agree with Lowe’s view on what the UK has become but I can see no possible reform unless via a military coup. Mrs Thatcher attempted strictly applied reform and was temporarily successful but was deposed by the liberals in her own party. Britain doesn’t like dicatators as was proved also by Churchill’s overwhelming election defeat after saving Britain in the last war.

Karl Marx believed Britain to be the ideal country for Socialism which is why he is buried in London.

More recently social media and technological change have brought about a class divide between young and old. The young don’t listen to their elders and so do not learn from the past. The promise of AI means less work, but also less jobs, and so more opportunity for spare unpaid time by the jobless and the anarchy which surely springs from it.

Lowe’s ideas on immigration are 50 years too late. The UK is now a multicultural society -like it or not- and many of the immigrants are contributors to UK good while many British born are those reluctant to work. So getting rid of immigrants will not work. The poorly educated young of today see welfare benefits as an entitlement rather than to be earned. It takes collapse to bring about reform and it is to Lowe’s credit he wants to stop collapse, but it is the only means of focusing minds collectively.

Starvation is a wonderful means to concentrate the mind and so despite the fast arriving AI the rich will get richer and run to Patagonia and New Zealand and their 500 ft super yachts before the inevitable comes and change will follow, first from force and then via the cycles of restoration that come after any war, and peace will follow for a period until forgetfulness of the lessons of the past take over once again.

I have had a charmed life in being a child in war time years and starting adult life at a time of goodwill and common purpose for the necessary restoration and expansion of homes and industry. Now all gone in a single lifetime. The UK could now in theory solve its problems with a war time program of house building, import tariffs and re-industrialisation – a ban on foreign travel and compulsory work hours but it won’t – not until the money supply runs put and starvation threatens. Right now Labour leaders promise the public the absolute opposite in a blind act of delusion, or worse deceit so as to hold on to their jobs . Economics is always in time the dictator of politics regardless of government. Governments never win elections. They only lose them to leave the door open to the next prophets of a better life for the hopeful.

best regards, John B
