Benita Bensch · On Being Seen, Again

Hello, hello!

A different kind of post for you today — I’m writing with a special invitation.

I’m currently working on a book about the journey of becoming more of our true selves through the light and dark of motherhood — what it teaches us, how it shapes us, and who we become in the process.

It’s part memoir (my lived experience), part reflection and teaching (what I’ve learned + expert insights) and part shared voices (your stories).

So far six women have contributed their stories. I have space for nine more.

✨ I’m looking for up to 800 words about your experience of feeling invisible or seen and the light and dark in your motherhood journey. ✨

You don’t have to be a writer. Your story, in your own words, doesn’t need to be perfect or polished — it just needs to be yours.

If you want to be involved but don’t feel confident in your writing you can:

  • Submit a piece shorter than 800 words

  • Record an audio and send me the transcription

  • Jump on a 20 minute zoom with me and I can interview you to draw out what’s wanting to be expressed and shape a draft story

Whether you choose to share about a specific experience or give a broader motherhood reflection, your voice will help other mothers who are feeling lost, isolated, or invisible to feel less alone and more understood.

Why share your story?

  • Because it matters. Your story is worth honouring. Reflecting and writing can be a healing process in itself.

  • Because it could be the light for someone else. Another mother might be walking a similar path and need to know she’s not alone. Your words could be exactly what she needs.

  • Because it will be published. This will be a professionally edited, designed, and published book — available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook in 2026.

  • Because you’re contributing to something meaningful. This book is the culmination of seven years of work, growth, community and learning — a reclamation of visibility and voice for women who have ever asked: Who am I now?

  • Because your story will be held with care. Every contribution will be treated with respect, keeping your essence intact.

The deadline to submit your story: 5pm, Sunday 27th July

To express your interest, please complete this short form:

To be considered, please complete the form as soon as possible — this is how I’ll know you’re keen and can hold you one of the nine available spots.

You’re welcome to email me your story later (any time before the deadline), but the form is essential to secure your place. It also outlines expectations and includes helpful prompts to guide your writing.

There’s no cost and, beyond the writing, there’s only a minimal time commitment to be involved.

If your story is included, you’ll be connected with the other contributors through a handful of Zoom calls during the publishing process, and you’ll be invited to celebrate the book launch with me in early 2026.

Thank you for considering being part of this journey with me. After finding a home in the book for the first six stories in the last few weeks, I know with certainty that together we can make a real difference.

Please reach out with any questions at all!

Thank you for being here!

With much love and gratitude,

Benita x
