On relief from the weight we carry + September Sky High Immersion

It’s the day before term 2 starts and there’s a million things I could be doing…

Washing, folding, cooking, the dishes in the sink.

Sweeping up the pile of jackhammered tiles in our partially renovated house.

Readying uniforms, lunchboxes and bags for tomorrow morning.

Vacuuming and wiping out our dusty car.

Cleaning out the budgie’s cage.

Not to mention time with the kids, emails, planning and all the business things.

It’s all beckoning me.

Instead, right now, I’m choosing to sit outside the cottage with a cup of coffee to write this. I felt like writing, yet I so easily could have withheld the joy from myself in favour of list ticking.

I’m listening to the soothing warble of a magpie and watching the eucalyptus leaves gently rustling mere metres from me.

Knowing the pace will pick up tomorrow, I want to savour slow for just a little longer.

I had planned to rise early this morning but lingered in bed in my PJs and released myself from the expectation. That can start tomorrow.

I look through the window at the four humans I birthed, with their collective 80 fingers and toes lined up along the couch.

I’m in awe of what we created. It still floors me.

Do you ever look at them and think… how did this happen?

I couldn’t count the number of times I’ve looked at our children and had a genuine little-me moment, wondering who put me in charge? I do not feel qualified, old enough or ready enough for this!

It is a bit crazy, and a huge responsibility, to learn on the job about raising a child while also coming to know ourselves in a new way.

I think it’s what makes mothers and conscious parents incredible.

-pg. 63, Seen Again: Light on Matrescence

Lately I’ve been feeling our family edge into a new stage, along with a new phase of parenting now that we have 8-12 year olds.

I spend so much time trying to get everything ‘right.’ I imagine you do too.

Parenting, relationships, personal wellbeing, renovation choices, schooling decisions, businesses, finances… the list goes on.

Although I know there’s no such thing as ‘right’ I have my own personal standards. We all do. I want to do good. I think we all want to.

Yesterday afternoon I finished packing up the temporary above-ground pool we’d erected for the summer and pulled up the mats that sat underneath the pool lining.

The ground underneath was moist, flattened, with a smattering of sad yellow grass sprouts that had been fighting for survival for months.

It reminded me of mothers.

When you have the equivalent of a pool full of water sitting heavily on top of you for an extended period, it becomes less about thriving and more like survival.

Sometimes it’s not that we need more discipline or better systems — we need relief.

We all need a reprieve in some way, in some form, at some time.

I’m an advocate for finding moments and methods of reprieve in our everyday lives…. and also creating opportunities to step outside of them entirely, when we can.

This is what I mean by reprieve. Not escape. Not avoidance. But space to return to yourself.

You’re Invited to join me for Seen Again: The Immersion

Sky High, Mt Franklin, Vic, Wed 2 - Sat 5 September, 2026

Seen Again: The Immersion is a three‑night, intimate, neuro-affirming experience I’m hosting for women who feel the pull to step away from the day-to-day and into a slower, spacious space.

Think:

  • Hot coffee overlooking the valley.

  • No deadlines. No one needing you.

  • The warmth of the heated plunge pool.

  • Nourishing meals, lovingly prepared for you.

  • 75 minute in-house massage and facial package.

  • Meditation, reflection and conversation.

  • Walks in the crisp mountain air.

  • Time as a group, and time just for you to rest, reflect, or make progress on something that matters to you.

The immersion creates distance from daily responsibilities, so your nervous system can exhale.

Over these few days you may find yourself moving from the parts of you that feel invisible or unseen... towards feeling seen again - starting with seeing yourself first.

This experience is for 6 women only, plus me. You will be beautifully taken care of.

If this speaks to you, you can learn more here and secure your place with a $750 deposit.

(And beyond that, we can absolutely work with you on a payment plan to make it possible.)

Wishing you all well as you go about your week. You are not alone.

With love,

Benita x
