Surprises are few as we reach the top 10, a quintet of songs that will unfailingly fill this music lover’s December soundtrack:
#10 - O Come, All Ye Faithful (Knoxville Choral Society): Though the Latin lyrics are well appreciated, I’m partial to this jubilant Dan Forrest arrangement.
#9 - Hallelujah Chorus - Messiah (Academy of St. Martin in the Fields): Strictly speaking, yes, it doesn’t celebrate the Nativity. But tradition triumphs here.
#8 - Who Would Have Dreamed? (McKenzie Kauflin): A moving, theologically rich, modern masterpiece that stands atop Sovereign Grace’s Christmas collection.
#7 - Wexford Carol (Yo-Yo Ma, Alison Krauss): The best version of this superb Irish Yuletide hymn - “Consider well and bear in mind what our good God for us has done…”
#6 - Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming (The Brilliance): As the proverbial flower blooms, the beauty of this newly featured version has grown on me after repeat listens.
