Longtime die-hard supporters of President Donald Trump in the right-wing media ecosystem are beginning to abandon him, according to a humiliating supercut aired Friday evening on MS NOW by host Nicolle Wallace.
Before you scroll any further, remember one thing: stories like this don't get boosted by algorithms or backed by billion-dollar media companies, they survive because readers choose to support independent journalism. There are no corporate owners, no advertisers calling the shots, just reader-funded reporting willing to cover the stories others won't. If you value sharp, independent journalism, become a paid supporter today. It takes less than a minute, and it makes all the difference.
The reasons for the growing mutiny range from frustration over the Iran war to the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein trafficking case files, coming amid a broader collapse in traffic for right-wing media outlets.
“I do want to show you some of the contortions that Trump has forced some of his most rabid followers to make, in their own words,” Wallace told her panel as she played the compilation.
In case you missed it:
Conspiracy theorist and webcaster Alex Jones appeared in the cut first offering full-throated loyalty: “We’ve got to support Trump or civilization will collapse. Those are quotes. And it’s true.” More recently, Jones shifted dramatically, declaring of Trump, “I’m calling for it right now. 25th Amendment, impeachment, whatever needs to happen to get this front and center to get control of our country.”
Former Navy SEAL and popular podcaster Shawn Ryan was shown expressing earlier support: “I’ve been very open to the fact that I will be supporting Trump.” In a more contemporary interview, however, Ryan offered a far darker assessment of the former president, saying of Trump, “when you’re at a Trump rally, you’re like, oh, I could definitely see how Hitler happened. Like, I’m not even — I’m not joking, dude.”
Wallace then turned to her guest, political analyst Rick Stengel, for reaction.
“Some of it is the proverbial rats deserting the sinking ship, but they’re deserting the ship for different reasons,” Stengel said. “I mean, all of the folks we just saw, feel betrayed by Trump in one way or another. They realized that he has no ideology at all except get attention and get money.”
