Gold is back above $4,100 after a pause in fighting between the US and Iran sent oil prices lower, easing fears that inflation could spiral higher again.

Brent crude fell as much as 7% after Iran said it would halt attacks if Washington did the same. Lower oil prices reduce inflation pressure, but traders still see around an 80% chance the Federal Reserve raises interest rates in September.

The Federal Reserve announces its latest interest-rate decision on Wednesday, and economists and traders rarely have looked this far apart heading into a meeting.

All 104 economists surveyed by Reuters expect the Fed to leave rates unchanged. Traders aren’t so convinced. Futures markets still price roughly a 36% chance of a surprise rate hike after hotter inflation, rising oil prices and new tariffs shifted expectations over the past week.

BitMart is winding down its crypto exchange, sending its BMX token down 46% in a single day as users rushed for the exit.

New registrations, deposits and orders have already been suspended. All trading will stop on August 26, with the platform set to close completely on January 31, 2027.

The shutdown comes just days after BitMEX announced its own exit, meaning two established exchanges have begun closing within the same week. BitMart users now have one month to close positions and withdraw their assets.
