Brent crude plunged as much as 9% yesterday after Donald Trump said talks with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would begin Monday afternoon.

Oil fell from $91.03 to as low as $82.83 before recovering slightly to around $84. Trump also said he cancelled a planned US strike after regional allies and Iran urged restraint, although Iranian state media denied Tehran had made any such request.

The talks could ease pressure on global shipping and fuel prices, but markets remain wary after weeks of conflicting signals sent oil sharply in both directions.

Developers behind Bitcoin’s proposed BIP-110 soft fork have delayed activation after a security flaw in Coldcard wallets left some users’ funds easier to steal. At least $88.6 million has already been drained, per Onchain Lens.

The rule change would temporarily limit how much data can be stored in Bitcoin transactions, but it was already falling well short of the miner support needed to pass. Just 2.63% of blocks had signalled support, against a required threshold of 55%.

Node operators have now been told to switch back to standard Bitcoin software before the next activation phase begins, leaving the future of BIP-110 increasingly uncertain.

Trump Media has reportedly sold another 2,628 Bitcoin worth around $165 million, taking total sales to more than 7,200 BTC after building its treasury near the market’s peak.

The company has also launched Truth API, a subscription service giving institutional clients real-time access to Truth Social posts. The highest-priced plan costs $100,000 a month, more than the firm’s entire first-quarter revenue when annualised.

Around 4,260 Bitcoin remain on the balance sheet, but company filings show they’re pledged as collateral until 2028.
