Becky Helms · My Artist Friend with Becky Helms

It was another very busy week with the office reno. Calling it a renovation feels excessive, but we’ve put in track shelving are making a custom desk, so I guess it’s a mini-reno. This week was all about building IKEA drawers and painting, painting, painting!

I’m about done, though, and can’t wait to start displaying all my trinkets and collections! I’ll put some progress photos in the Crafty section for you!

  1. Baby Three Blind Boxes - They’re just always so cute!

  2. This Episode of the Beautiful Mess Podcast - I started doing the three steps this week and it’s been really nice!

  3. All the progress I’ve made on the office this week!

There were no new posts, podcasts or videos this week. I’ve been knee deep in office prep and had no room to come up for air. But, here are some recent favorites that you can revisit, or maybe you missed them altogether!

First photo: sticker sheet full of flower and animal illustrations. Second photo: a sticker of a boot with stationery items and bluebonnets sticking out. • Lea Crayons- Everything in this shop is so cute. I need this sticker sheet for my journal!

  • Michaela Made - As a stationery fiend and Texan, this sticker speaks to me.

First photo: a sticker with a transparent background that features an illustration of strawberries. Second photo: a collage print that says, "cats hate ai" with a cat laying on a computer in space. • Vessels of Home - This shop is based in the Netherlands, but this piece is definitely worth the wait and import fees!

  • Katharine Watson - I can’t get over how gorgeous this print is.

We’re in the 70s now for The 100 Day Project and still going strong! I’m really happy with this batch and can’t believe there’s just about a month left.

The color drenching continues! I tested the shelves (I rounded the corners myself!) and built three sets of Alex drawers for my desk to sit on. Originally, the idea was to have a floating desk, but the extra storage space was necessary for this small room, so IKEA won out.

Today is another painting day and all the drawer units will be the same pink as the rest of the room! I’m using this tutorial by my actual real life friend Rachel. She’s made it so simple and it’s going well! She’s done so many projects with IKEA furniture, there’s no one else I’d trust with my pink office!

Also, don’t forget about Snart if you’re looking for some crafty ideas!

  • A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers (hardcover) - I’m so close to the end and really drawing this one out because I love Dex and Mosscap so much.

  • Bride by Ali Hazelwood (audiobook via Libby) - If you’ve been around long enough, you know I’ve read most of Ali Hazelwood’s books and this one is just a fun lol. It’s her first fantasy and has been out for a while, but my library hold finally showed up (along with like three other at the same time omg), so it was finally my time to dive in! A vampire has to marry a werewolf to avoid war between the species, plus there’s a mystery and intrigue and it’s just a fun time if you like a modern day, spicy fantasy.

*Book links are affiliates where I get a small portion of the sale and it helps to support The Fox and the Feather, my favorite woman-owned, indie bookshop near me!

Last weekend we visited Time Blaster Toys and it restored all the dopamine in our bodies the second we walked in 😍 They have a Chairy!!

We love 80s and 90s toys and couldn’t believe our eyes. They even had a couple of sections for girls’ toys!!! I’ll share more in a Monday post because I took so many photos. I can’t wait to go back!

And of course, some obligatory cat photos. Anyway! Wish me luck in finishing the office this weekend!!

K, love you, byeeee!
