The Good Person Trap™️ · The Good Person Trap™️by Becky Grace

I completely forgot to post last week after my 2.5-week summer break! I’m trying to be less regimented with posting weekly and instead tune in to the rhythm of my own energy—more seasonal, more in line with what feels possible at the time.

One of the things I hear sometimes in therapy is: “I feel like I’m not making any progress.”

And I get it. When you’re in the thick of recovery, or living with ADHD, Autism, or an eating disorder, change can feel invisible. You’re working hard, but the steps feel so small you barely notice them.

This past week reminded me how easy it is to miss the signs that things are shifting.

I received two beautiful client reviews. They didn’t talk about overnight transformation or “never struggling again.” They talked about feeling more themselves, having more energy, and trusting themselves a little more. Those are the kinds of changes that can sneak past us if we don’t stop to notice.

I was also invited to potentially train 150 NHS staff. That might sound far removed from therapy, but for me it was a reminder of how change can ripple outward. Healing isn’t just about you—it impacts everyone around you. Your family. Your colleagues. Your friends. And sometimes, whole systems.

Even the smallest steps you take for yourself can create bigger changes than you realise.

Another highlight of my week was Ideas Fest, a gathering of people who are all about possibility and new ways of living. Being in that environment reminded me:

  • You don’t have to stay stuck in old patterns.

  • Energy can be rebuilt.

  • New paths open up when you give yourself the space to imagine them.

And that’s just as true in recovery.

If you’re reading this and feeling like you’re not moving forward, I want you to hear this:

Change doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s a quiet shift—a little more trust in yourself, a little more energy, a little less fear.

Those changes matter. They are proof that you’re moving.

And even if you can’t see it yet, the ripple effect of your healing is bigger than you think.

This week, maybe ask yourself: What’s one small sign that things are different for me now, compared to six months ago?

Even if it feels tiny, it’s still a step. And steps add up.

And if you’d like support noticing your own steps or building more energy and confidence in your life, my 1:1 sessions and group workshops are designed to meet you where you are—helping you take those small, meaningful steps forward in a way that feels sustainable.

Have a great week!
