A friend and colleague of mine is about to release a book on spiritual awakening. A topic that’s close to both our hearts as teachers of altered states of consciousness - sacred, powerful glimpses of life beyond the ordinary mind.

His term for his ideal reader is glimpser. He describes that as someone who has done enough inner work to have tasted moments of “high flow”… and having tasted it, wants more.

When I heard it, I recognized myself immediately.

Back in the day, I was a serious seeker. Every therapy, every retreat, every method got the same internal interrogation:

“Will this make me feel better?”

“Will this heal the unruly emotions I wrestle with daily?”

“Does this hold the promise of the transformation I’m looking for?”

Some of my earliest glimpses came through cannabis. Starting in college, when I smoked I felt better - a lightness, a euphoria, a different angle on my own life. I’d call that a glimpse. The downside was that cannabis could also take me the other way, intensifying the very anxiety I was trying to calm. So it wasn’t the answer. But it showed me that my life could feel different. And that kept me searching.

About ten years ago, I encountered the work I now teach. It opened me to ongoing altered states through a method of emotional release that lets you access your own deep inner knowing for healing.

What I discovered is that our difficult emotions - the Anxiety, the Shame, the Grief, the Anger - are not obstacles to high flow. They are the doorway. When you learn to meet them rather than avoid them, something opens. That opening is the glimpse becoming something more.

Through years of experimentation, I also discovered that small, judicious amounts of cannabis and/or psilocybin, used in tandem with this emotional release work, can facilitate going deeper. Many of my students and clients have found the same - that for them, the right amount can deepen the work in ways they hadn't expected.

The key is finding the “sweet spot” where the plant medicine amplifies rather than numbs. Too much, and the high flow state collapses. Each person’s sweet spot is different - and finding it, under careful guidance, is part of the work.

Having said that, the plant medicine is always optional. I assure you the method is powerful without it.

This Sunday I’m hosting one of my monthly Elevation Ceremonies, a complimentary online gathering where we use the emotional release practices to drop into exactly this territory. High flow. We explore the difficult emotions as a pathway rather than a problem. The glimpse becoming something more sustained.

If you’d like to amplify the experience, cannabis is welcome - used with clear intention and at a dose that opens rather than overwhelms (you’ll get guidance when you register). And if you’re currently microdosing psilocybin, this is an excellent opportunity to use your microdose intentionally, as a ceremonial amplifier.

No previous experience required. All you need is somewhere comfortable to sit and the willingness to arrive.

11am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm London

The gathering is recorded, so you can return to it even if the timing isn’t perfect.

Details and registration

Here’s to all the glimpsers among us. May the glimpses turn into long, permanent states of high flow.

With Love,

Becca
