I read this article in the Guardian (.org) online yesterday.
I am a huge fan of the sea and its many benefits and mysteries. I know how much therapeutic value there is in swimming in the sea, and where I live, I have had the privilege of being able to swim in the sea that is just metres from my front door.
I am in awe of the people I see already in the sea at 6 am, and I particularly admire those who swim in winter as well.
My ancestry is steeped in the energy of the sea. The sea has a special place in my life. The country I lived in has a long and beautiful coastline. But I lived inland and could only go to the sea during the holidays.
Then I moved to a country surrounded by the sea, and every day I feel my soul being revived because of my access to this incredible force of nature.
For those who have visited my website and/or enrolled in the Stress Interpreter Reset™, you will have seen the image of the sea and the sea as a metaphor for the work I do. It is not just a random image – it is one of thousands of photos I have taken from my balcony, and the image always soothes me.
If the sea can be such a beneficial force for people dealing with anxiety and trauma as the Guardian’s article says, just think what it can do for general, everyday stress that most of us live with.
