1983 Topps All-Star Dusty Rhodes

With the July 4th holiday last weekend, my feeds were full of various tributes to the Red, White, and Blue. But none of them hit me quite like this 1983 Topps All-Star styled “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes from artist Gummy Arts. If you were a wrestling fan in the ‘80s you typically either watched the WWF, with grapplers like Hulk Hogan, The Honkeytonk Man, and The Ultimate Warrior, or you watched the NWA, with the likes of Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, and Arn Anderson. I was a fan of the latter, and The American Dream, the son of a plumber from Austin, Texas, was one of my favorites. To see him given the Gummy Arts treatment on that iconic ‘83 All-Star design was just too much ‘Merican awesomeness for my inner 11-year-old.
