You might notice that our private space looks a little different now. It has evolved from The Healing Room into The Healing Garden. I chose this change because a room has four strict walls, but a garden has room to breathe, to shift with the seasons, and to grow at its own natural pace. You cannot rush a seed to break through the dirt, and you cannot force your body to heal faster than it is ready to.
The Healing Garden uses writing as a way in, but not the way writing is usually taught. It’s not about telling your whole story. It’s not about finding the perfect words for something you’ve never been able to say out loud. It’s about learning how to write near something before you try to write directly about it. How to notice what’s coming up in your body: the tight chest, the blank mind, the sudden urge to close the tab and how to stay with yourself when it does.
Our New, Spacious Rhythm
To protect your nervous system (and my own), I have also reshaped our schedule to make it more spacious. Instead of flooding your inbox every single week, we are moving through things in slow, gentle layers.
When you step inside our paid space, our monthly rhythm now looks like this:
The Audio Remedies: Twice a month, your regular Poetic Remedy email will unlock a private audio player. You can listen to me read the poem aloud, where I’ll gently break down the deeper metaphors and the trauma-informed “why” behind the lines.
The Somatic Integration Prompts: Paired with each audio guide, you will receive practical, body-focused creative writing exercises. These are designed to safely move the poetry out of your analytical mind and down into your lived physical body.
The Healing Garden Mini-Series: You unlock full, self-paced access to our specialized therapeutic poetry courses (such as Tending the Soil: Somatic Writing for High Anxiety). These deep-dive modules are created to help you navigate specific patterns or places where your nervous system tends to get stuck.
Everything is spaced out so you can move at your own pace, come back to things when you have the capacity, or just sit with a single line and see what surfaces.
We begin our very first garden cycle this week.
With warmth and care,
Debra 💕
