Happy Friday, everyone!
Is this summer flying or what?? I keep having to remind myself that there’s still so much time for…everything! For relaxing, for family time, for playing pickleball with your friends, for finding your new favorite summer recipe, for reading a great book, for jumping in the water, for planning a spontaneous weekend road trip. In case you needed a reminder, it’s all available to you!
Before we barrel into August, I want to write a little letter about some of my favorite things I’m loving right now. It’s a quick list — short and sweet, my favorite — but I highly encourage you to take five or ten minutes and jot down some of your favorite things. It can be a new pair of shoes (I talk about the ones I’m living in, below) or a great show you look forward to turning on after a long day, getting under a blanket with the AC blasting.
Friday favorites:
The other night, I had an amazing roasted artichoke dish that reminded me how underrated artichokes are and sent me down a little rabbit hole. I still think about this homemade spinach and artichoke pizza we made in the Ooni a few summers ago. Steamed artichoke with aioli is a perfect snack. Now I’m feeling inspired to experiment with more recipes — next up, stuffed artichokes!
The show I’ve really gotten into this summer is Beef. We just started season two, and I’m desperate to get caught up. The whole show is messy, the humor is dark, and whoever’s doing the music deserves a raise. Simultaneously, we’re also half-watching The Hawk. If you have a golf lover in your house, it’s a fun watch — classic Will Ferrell, and very much not kid-friendly.
Earlier this week, Greer and I did a very spur-of-the-moment Substack Live for our MBS readers (if you want to join the next one, sign up below!). So many of you asked about the shirt I was wearing…Here it is — and on sale! It’s light and easy to throw on before a Zoom call or over a bathing suit. Thank you to everyone who joined us Live and for sending in so many great questions about friendship. Isn’t Greer the best?? Campaign to bring her back.
My moment of gratitude this week was getting to play pickleball with Greer and our husbands. Just taking time to connect outside in nature filled my cup!
As Harper gets bigger, I’m having so much fun putting her in little outfits — a few brands I’m loving: Baby Gap, Maisonette, Janie and Jack, and Hillhouse, where I just got her this precious little bubble outfit. A bit of a splurge, but would make a great gift!
Speaking of Hillhouse, while I was shopping for Harper, I picked up this one-piece on a whim for our vacation, and it’s become my new favorite suit. You know when you order something online, and you’re not sure how it’ll fit? I find one-pieces particularly challenging in that department, but this one is great quality and design. I love the square neck and thin straps. I added it to our very extensive BS swim edit. Wade on over…
My drink of the moment is a honey lavender fog. I don’t drink coffee, but in the summer, I like dabbling in a latte of sorts. This really scratches the itch. It’s Earl Grey tea with steamed milk, lots of honey, and dried lavender. I had one every morning on vacation. Now I just have to figure out how to make it at home…
While the dessert of summer is your choice of berries and a dollop of whipped cream served in a fancy silver coupe, I’ve recently discovered a similarly simple and very decadent alternative: the skillet brookie. I ordered one the other night, and it satiated my (relentless) sweet tooth in a way only hot melted chocolate with butter and cold vanilla ice cream can. Really, any warm dessert — apple pie, banana bread, a skillet brookie — served with vanilla ice cream is a win.
The unsung hero of my summer wardrobe has to be my Rothy’s. They’re a newer purchase, but they’ve quickly become the leave-by-the-door shoe that I throw on to putter around the house and to walk around the grass with Harper. They’re so comfy!
Blame the new mom (or Mother Goose) in me, but I’ve been really sentimental about art recently. The other day I saw a beautiful framed print of a foal and its mom, and I could not stop staring at it — so precious!
Okay, that’s all for today. What’s something new and great you discovered recently? Leave it in the comments. I’d love to know what little things you’ve been loving.
TO GIFT: PJs for your friend who’s into tennis (or pickleball).
TO LISTEN TO: Oprah on Knowing Your Worth. This might be my new favorite podcast.
TO MAKE: Chocolate chip tahini blondies, a cousin of the skillet brookie. I trust Broma Bakery’s dessert recipes implicitly; Sweet Tooth is one of the cookbooks I swear by.
TO WEAR: Jelly sandals. Spotted these in a recent issue of Magasin, so you know they’re chic.
TO TAKE WITH YOU: “I’m a Cancer; I’m music-passionate. I like long walks on the beach.” -Will Ferrell

“I love reading these stories. It shows that we are not alone and others are going through similar situations. I’m planning my wedding and resonate with A’s story. My fiancé and I keep referring back to each other to ensure that we both are on the same page. Love this issue.” -Nurul (MBS)
