Hi! How are you guys? I took last week off from the newsletter, and while I am sure you didn’t notice or care, I have to apologize for giving you no advance notice! I hope you didn’t miss me! I spent last week at my grandma’s lake house in Western Michigan, which was so much fun! I mean, the kids were nuts and we all were adjusting to less than optimal sleep, but it was all worth it! It’s my favorite place on earth!
I spent the week reading Elin Hilderbrand’s The Love Season. My friend Tim Ehrenberg said it’s one of his favorites, and I think Elin’s books are meant to be enjoyed by a body of water, so I’ve been saving it for this trip! You can find my review here!
Finishing the book inspired me to put together my ranking of the books of Elin’s I’ve read. I am relying on memory, which is tricky because some of these books I read over a decade ago! Moral of the story: all the books are great and you cannot go wrong! What’s your favorite Elin book? Speaking of the Queen of the Beach Read, Boston Mag published the most in-depth profile of her that I have read. Find it here!
An Infinite Love Story (Goodreads), Helpless (Goodreads), Love You More (Goodreads), The Mash Up (Goodreads), Ungodly Rich (Goodreads), Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt (Goodreads), Crash Into Me (Goodreads), Star-Crossed Summer (Goodreads)
So many thrilling new releases this week! Robinne Lee’s first book since The Idea of You! Devon Daniels’ Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams-inspired Star-Crossed Summer! A MASH-inspired romance! And more!
This week, I read When You Loved Me by Beatriz Williams! I found this book to be a slow start, but once I got into it, I was totally hooked. Find my review here!
This was a BOTM option that I ultimately passed on because BOTM compared it to Sally Rooney’s Normal People, a book which, while great, really bummed me out. I didn’t think I was in the mood for literary fiction romance, but after reading this review that a friend shared, I knew I needed to read it ASAP!
Find Games on Bookshop.org or shelve it on Goodreads!
I bought a Sleep Crown pillow years ago for my husband, who was having trouble sleeping. Turns out we just needed a new mattress, so the very pricey Sleep Crown has been collecting dust! Honestly, I didn’t get what the hype was about, that is until I dusted it off two months ago when Baby #3 started sharing a room with me!
I am shocked to report that I love it so much I just ordered a pink pillowcase for it (I somehow lost the pillowcase it came with, don’t ask). The pillow is meant to be flopped on top of your head, like over your eyes. I am a side sleeper, but it manages to stay on pretty well. I love it because it drowns out all those little newborn noises that they make throughout the night, plus it blocks out the early morning sunrise. The pressure on the eyes is delightful (I am someone who likes to sleep with an eye mask, so I am used to something on my eyes). All this to say, it’s been lovely. Also, this is an annoying thing to pick this week because they’re sold out, but according to the site, they’ll restock on Tuesday!
It’s so hot, and I am really preferring skorts! Nothing fits, so I picked up some new ones. I am still loving that Target one I shared earlier this summer, but a girl needs options. I ordered two this week, and I’ll see which I prefer. Maybe I’ll even love them both (this is a problem I hope to have, literally nothing is fitting me)! I picked the Lululemon Align skort because I love that buttery Align material, and the Spanx skort because I love their workout dress. I’ll report back!
I shared this playlist earlier this week! It is such a great vibe for a summer evening. It’s low key and carries me all the way through kids’ bedtime. I love it.
