The Waiheke Police once resided in a Noddy and Big Ears type house, far more the community look than your modern cop shop. When they moved out, Jeanine moved in. 14 years later she’s on the move again, and we caught up while she was packing down.

She’s lived an interesting life with her fabrics and designs, profiling on catwalks around the world. For Jeanine the personal is political, and her work sits in the moving feast of Tino rangatiratanga and white colonialism. Once she made me a suit out of a tartan blanket. A hefty item, it comes into it’s own on a cold south island day.

She’s an absolute Waiheke icon, I know her as a warm hearted generous and caring local. Junk to Funk, Wearable Art type community projects and she’ll be there. You can track her on facebook and on insta, Jeanine Clarkin #ahokura_indigenousartanddesign

Thanks for sharing your thoughts’ Jeanine, awesome work Sister 👆🏼
