What a project.

What a project. I set out to interview 50 local people, first asking my chums, then their chums and off we went. Just short interviews, and I sent them this txt first :

"Hopes, fears n’ good ideas is me video interviewing you on my phone. A short interview, around 5 minutes of footage. The questions are, ‘tell me one or two things you wish for, something or things that concern you, and a good idea or two. ‘ The vid is not intended to define you, just capture a moment in time.

Once I’ve edited your video I’ll share it with you privately so you can ask me to change anything before I share it. Once you are happy I’ll share it to our community facebook page, and as part of my blog and YouTube channel .
… If you decide eg in the future you don’t want your video available in public, I’ll take it down. It’s your story, you have control over it.

This is a personal project, to share people’s thoughts and ideas, help us reflect and connect, what unites us is bigger than what divides us. I’m seeking a cross-section of people to take part, it generally takes 30-60 mins of your time, I’ll work around your availability and come to you if that’s easiest.

If it’s your thing I’d love you to be involved”

Each interview averaged about 500 views on our local community facebook page, a good response for a community of 10,000.

It is a privilige to have people trust you with their stories, and enlightening to hear so many views. 100% there is more that connects us than divides.

The ‘Hopes, fears n’ good ideas’ project is a great template for communities to theme and connect.
