Today’s bonus post is rather different from my usual fare. A writing experiment if you will. And so I have decided to make this web only (inbox space is precious I know). Normal baking service will resume next week.

For a few months now, I have been quietly joining Mark Diacono’s excellent writing group gatherings. He gives us a prompt, and we are all given an hour to write a piece. It can be short and polished, or longer and flowing. Then, we come together to read our work (should we feel comfortable) and discuss. This month’s prompt was: I didn’t, but I like it now.

I have been a quiet one at the back of the classroom, absorbing nuggets of wisdom, enjoying the stories, offering positive feedback. Yet, despite the supportive air of the group, feeling too shy to read aloud…
