A quick note to the AI-skeptical software developers

• If your AI tooling experience wasn’t in the last 3 months,

• If your experience with LLMs and chabots is just ChatGPT,

• If while using it, you tried to trip it up, succeded, and then said “SEE?!” and stopped using it,

• If you tried to get it to do your whole job, and not to help you with your current task,

• If you feel like you are too smart to replace, because only you know the system,

• If you have only used direct models to code and not tools like Cursor or Claude Code with the models,

• If you then took months off after concluding that it was garbage,

• If you have a background anxiety about the whole thing that is driving the behaviors above, then:

Give it another go. Try a better, more recent tool. Give it subtasks. Give it complex things that you aren’t sure it can figure out1, and when it surprises you, feel the feelings, but then be optimistic. Read what others are doing2, and what they feel about it.

Keep learning.

Don’t turn it off.

Don’t run from it.

Try again.
