This Sunday, we took a look at Exodus 1 and the example of the midwives, Shiphrah and Puah.
Throughout history, people have had to decide for themselves if the order they received or the expectation levied upon them is worth it. These were people who were expected to treat a fellow image bearer as less than. Expected to subjugate and destroy, no questions asked. And while many went along with what Empire expected of them, there were those who refused. Those who were not willing to adopt a Flip Wilsonian defense of “the devil made me do it.” They are the examples we have who remind us that we have agency and should not go along just to get along with evil.
I pray that this message blesses you and makes you think about the ways that God is calling you to apply your expertise to the brokenness in our world.
