can you abandon what isn't working without shame?

i couldn’t stop thinking about floral still lives after last week’s trip to the museum!

i asked myself: can i stage an elaborate still life like a 16th century dutch painter and then paint it all in the week right after being on vacation!? No, definitely not.

i scaled back my ambition and was able to stage a simple still life and make a few sketches. it was fun!

painting reminders:

- can you abandon what isn’t working without shame?
- be less ambitious
- explore the idea without overinvesting
- just because you start it doesn’t mean you have to finish it
- don’t pick silly battles
- let it be small
