What happens when they carry it away hasn’t happened yet.

The stranger who heard about your love for the purpley house hasn’t forgotten you, which is impressive since you’ve never met.

A few weeks later they find a lamp shaped like an eggplant having a medical emergency. And take a picture.

“Would your purple-house person love this?”

The reply’s back before the typing dots have time to settle.

“Totally.”

Now you’re a category.

The pictures keep coming.
A staircase with one blue step.
Handbag that looks like it has teeth.
Wallpaper capable of causing a religious event.

Someone you don’t know is learning the particular borders of your delight from someone who does.

This happens more than you’d think. People who care about you describe you with enough affection that others start looking forward to you before you’ve arrived.

One night the stranger finally asks, “What are they actually like?”

Your name enters a room you aren’t in.

You have no clue what’s about to be said.
