You have no clue what’s about to be said.
You’re nowhere near the chat. Your name only came up as a result of the stranger asking what you’re actually like.
Your friend starts in with the hands.
They get top billing even when they aren’t in the room.
Then comes the purpley house. And that noise you make when something delights you. How you notice stuff others walk right past, then point it out so others don’t unsee it.
It all lasts around 90 seconds tops.
Nobody writes it down or thinks to report back. Why would they? Your friend’s answering a question, and talking about you this fondly doesn’t feel like news.
Lots of nice things said about you never make it back. But they’re said, they’re the truth, and there’s other stuff too.
By the time the topic changes, this stranger knows why your friend smiles when saying your name. They haven’t met you yet but they’re already hoping they will.
There’s one human who still hasn’t heard any of this.
