With the ending of 2022, my hangover year, I reflected on what I accomplished and have yet to accomplish. 2022 was filled with lots of traveling, both business and personal. But if I can put a picture to 2022 it would be this one:
Taken in September 2022, perched atop the Palazzo Manfredi Hotel from the Michelin starred restaurant, Aroma. That afternoon my friends and I enjoyed some of the most amazing food, views and service that I could only dream about. It was a wonderful culinary experience on a the clearest day, that I will remember for the rest of my life. During my roman holiday as I wandered the eternal city, I was reminded of the quote from Elizabeth Gilbert in her book Eat, Pray, Love, “ruin is a gift, ruin leads to transformation.”
The losses I experienced in 2021, and the hangover year of grief that was 2022 forced me to transform. As messy as it feels in the deep pool of grief, I hope that the transformation looks like this picture. Staring back at a ruin from the past that has been restored and transformed to be a source of pride, beauty, and inspiration to all who gaze upon it. We will all face moments in our lives that will ruin us. But like the eternal city of Rome, we are able to adapt, change, grow, and continue to move forward stronger and more beautiful than ever! Thanks for re-capping 2022 with me. Keep an eye out for more good days to come in 2023!
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
