Welcome my sweet and cozy world. The only steamy thing in here is the coffee.
In case you were wondering, I am indeed one of those annoying people who listens to Christmas music throughout the year. Last autumn, when I tried listening to it before December 1st, my adult children would come into my office and command, “Alexa, stop!” I threatened to tell Santa on them, but you know how kids are these days.
It’s not just the music. I watch holiday movies year-round, too. When Hallmark launches Christmas in July, I'm there for every successful career woman who leaves the big city, returns home for exactly three days, and somehow falls in love with a guy in a flannel shirt she definitely didn't go to prom with.
And now another confession. I’ve already started Christmas shopping. Every year on January 2nd, I open my Christmas Shopping Spreadsheet and start preparing. I strive to finish before Labor Day, and I wrap gifts as they’re delivered. By Christmas morning, I’m as surprised as my family as to what they’re opening.
I’d love to hear your strong opinions about all of this. Vote in the poll, and then reply to let me know what you think, either by email or in a comment!
If you answered “this belongs in a mystery novel, then you’ll be delighted to hear what’s coming next for Juniper, our ADHD sleuth from the the Ho-Ho-Homicide series. Keep reading for an exclusive Q&A with her new sidekick, Pip the penguin!
While Figgy is away at reindeer training camp, Juniper is called to South Pole to put her sleuthing skills to work. Before long, she meets Pip the penguin, who helps run the Shiver Shack—his family’s beloved snow cone stand and unofficial gathering place for local gossip.
Since Pip plays a big role in Frozen with a Yeti, I thought I’d let him introduce himself. Here’s a quick Q&A to help you get to know one of South Pole’s favorite residents before the Christmas in July Festival begins.
Q&A with Pip
Q: Pip, what was your first impression of Juniper?
Pip: She is the best! I was worried because I get anxious around new people, but she made me this really awesome scarf, and now we’re best friends1
Q: What's the best flavor at the Shiver Shack?
Pip: Frostberry Blue. Anyone who disagrees is entitled to their wrong opinion. Also, the flavor is not frostberry. The flavor is blue. Everyone gets that wrong.
Q: Favorite Christmas movie?
Pip: Die Hard. Fight me! Just kidding. Haha! It’s Elf.
Q: When is it acceptable to start listening to Christmas music?
Pip: The day after Christmas. You have to get a head start on next year.
Q: Any predictions for this year’s Christmas In July festival?
Pip: I think it’s going to be something we’ll remember for a long time.

The Wishy Washy Witches is the sixth and final laugh-out-loud cozy mystery in the enchanting Haunted Housekeeping series. Filled with quirky magic, found family, a touch of romance, and one very inconvenienced Irish cat, this whimsical whodunit is best enjoyed after reading the earlier books in the series.

When retired nun and teacher Sister Bernadette returns with her fellow residents to The Abbey: Senior Living, she is the first to discover the body sprawled in the hallway of the converted school where she once taught English and now lives.
Instead of freezing with horror, Sister Bernie has questions. Lots of them.
That's all for now. I hope your day is filled with books and coffee (or whatever you’ve got in your favorite mug).
Happy reading,
