Notes on Entertaining: Spring Holiday Tables

What a joy it is to welcome the season of spring entertaining! Next up: Easter and Passover tables. Tabletop has always been our sweet spot, and there are endless ways to make it feel fresh, thoughtful, and quietly celebratory.

We were thrilled when our friends at Over the Moon tapped us to help produce their Easter tablescape campaign. Sharing a look at how we brought it together, along with a few tips and inspiration to carry into your own holiday table this weekend.

For spring holidays, I always come back to florals. Keep arrangements loose and unfussy, single varieties in small vessels or a mix of bud vases scattered along the table. I love clematis, hyacinth, muscari, and narcissus this time of year. Even a few clipped branches or a touch of greenery can feel incredibly chic.

For this shoot specifically, we brought in our friend and floral expert, Sara York Grimshaw, to bring the arrangements to life. We began by talking through what would be naturally in bloom, landing on a palette of soft lavenders and blues, and let that choice guide the rest of the table.

Sara arranged the florals in a mix of these julep cup vessels and E&S blown blue bud vases. I always love incorporating a touch of silver. And one of my favorite moments is the potted muscari in a pretty silver dish.

For this campaign, we wanted to celebrate being in Over the Moon founder Alexandra Macon’s home, showcasing her beautiful dining table. Rather than covering it with a full-length tablecloth, we enhanced it with Matouk placemats and embroidered napkins. The bordered detail adds a playful note, bringing personality to the table without overwhelming the setting.

From there, we wanted a tonal, eye-catching embroidered linen. We developed a lavender-and-blue floral monogram with Monogram Mary, which is now available through Over the Moon! The subtle tonal embroidery is effortless, adding a personal touch that complements the rest of the table without competing with it.

To keep the table feeling like Alex had just pulled pieces from her own cabinets, we leaned into heirloom-quality dinnerware and standout focal points.

We chose Ginori dinner plates in Pervinca and salad plates in Meringa, stacked for a layered look. These were paired with classic Juliska silver flatware. Timeless pieces that many of you may already have at home.

As a focal point, we used two E&S clear wave-etched hurricanes paired with aluminum taper holders, framing the floral centerpiece. These hurricanes are versatile enough to be used year-round, adding an elevated touch to any holiday table.

One of my favorite hosting practices is pairing a traditional wine glass with a more playful, casual water glass. Something I do almost every time I entertain at home. For this setting, we used floral-etched footed glasses. The floral etching and footed detail add just enough formality to complement the rest of the table, while still feeling approachable and effortless.
