Notes on Birth Announcements, Tradition, and Welcoming Our Baby Boy

There are certain traditions that feel worth holding onto. Birth announcements fall squarely into that category.

Given the nature of our work, I feel especially connected to paper for celebratory moments. We are so fortunate to collaborate with an incredible group of talented partners across wedding suites and day-of details, and it has only deepened my appreciation for the craft.

I have always admired the simplicity of traditional birth announcements in particular, how they say so much with so little. Printed on fine paper, often engraved or letterpressed, and thoughtfully mailed, they conveyed just enough. A name, a date, a few small details. Always something to be held, saved, and returned to over time.

We are so happy to share the arrival of our baby boy earlier this month! We will be sending a traditional announcement to family and friends in the mail, but it felt fun to share here as well with our community of friends, clients, and collaborators who have been so supportive along the way.

So grateful to Laura Lines Calligraphy for bringing my traditional vision to life, with a subtle twist. Vintage ribbons tie the two pieces together.
