Hello readers! The saga of my wrist continues in a positive direction; I have moved out of a cast and into a brace. Hurray! But I am becoming more and more stir crazy in being unable to draw or knit. Connor has done his best to keep my occupied in the evenings. Most nights we’ve been watching an episode of Murder, She Wrote as well as solving a puzzle in the book Murder Most Puzzling.
I really love the book illustrations by Stephanie von Reiswitz. The puzzles have been a little hit-or-miss. They are either a really good challenge, or a let down because there was some outside knowledge you needed. Using Austin Kleon’s idea of Steal Like An Artist, I’ve been toying with the idea of making my own puzzles.
Sarah Shaw has made so many cool zines. I love how experimental she is. Her Swiss Travel Diary is full of collage while her Borestone Mountain Field Journal utilizes a clever use of cutouts.
Brigitte shares all sorts of zine resources. I’m particularly inspired by the one page perzine. In that post she also highlights The Mythic Post, a fantasy zine filled with news from their own invented world.
