This Classic French Yogurt Cake, or “Gâteau au Yaourt,” is a moist, lightly sweet loaf cake made in one bowl, with pantry staples: yogurt, eggs, sugar, oil and flour. It’s the very first cake most French children learn to bake, and it’s still the one I turn to most when I want something simple, foolproof and delicious.
There’s no mixer required, no fancy technique, and no long ingredient list. You just need a good whisk, one bowl, and about ten minutes of hands-on time before it’s in the oven.

We’re freshly back from our sun-drenched week in the Luberon region: new adventures every day, barely a plan in sight, and honestly… it was bliss. But I’ll admit that by the end, I was missing my kitchen. And with summer nearing its end, I felt this itch to get back and make the most of the season’s bounty before it slipped away.
