Here’s the transcript (cleaned up) in case you’d like to read about this perception-shifting, belief-altering transit we’ve begun now. Look at both your Rising sign AND Sun sign for clues into what might be changing in your life. (If you need help with this, please reach out to me or comment below.)
Uranus in Gemini: What the Next Seven Years Are About
Uranus moved into Gemini last weekend, and I want to be honest: I’m still feeling it out. I wanted to really sit with it, study it, feel what it’s going to be like before I spoke to it too definitively. But I do have some sketch ideas, informed by the astrologers I learn from and by my own sense of this energy after doing this work for a while.
What The Energy of Uranus Does
Uranus is the planet of breakthroughs. It comes at us in unexpected ways. In Taurus, it caused the ground to shake and crack. It crumbled structures that had become stale, crusty, solidified, that needed to change. When we weren’t looking, it would crack something open.
It has our best interests at heart, if we were to personify this energy. It’s divine intelligence. It’s just that Uranus knows what’s best for us, and sometimes works in ways that are not exactly comfortable. But it’s also responsible for invoking a feeling of independence, freedom, revolution, breakthroughs, aha moments, sudden brilliance, and our own genius. Ultimately, I really love Uranus.
What The Energy of Gemini Does
Gemini has to do with having an open mind. Our curiosity. Uranus in Gemini is helping us have breakthroughs in opening our minds. I picture it like Uranus coming along and ripping the blinders off. All of a sudden we have a whole new perspective that we’d perhaps been defending against, or had blind spots around. Uranus will come along, perhaps create some chaos, but ultimately free us from perceptions we’ve outgrown, or perceptions we no longer need or want to be conditioned by.
The Bigger Picture
I think it’s a funny, humbling time to be an astrologer. When you get into forecasting work, you’re dealing with an entire planet of people having the Uranus effect in their lives. We don’t know how each person is going to respond. We don’t know exactly how each person’s perception is going to change. We do know there’s going to be a collective shift when enough people amass with this big perceptual change. But as far as forecasting exactly what that’s going to look like, I honestly don’t know. It’s just going to be different.
What I do have is an optimistic view. As much as there will be chaos, as much as we’ll be flooded with information, confusion, disruption, that is how this planetary energy behaves. But there is a silver lining.
The information we’ve always relied on can’t always be trusted, whether that’s AI, media, or something else breaking down. I think the chaos of information is going to turn us back into ourselves. Into trusting our own intelligence. Into adjusting how we take in information, so we can choose more wisely how we act, how we think, how we perceive.
We have more information than we’ve ever had in human history, and it’s going to keep coming. We’re going to have to learn to discern what is the correct perception, what’s the right information.
On one hand, we have no idea what’s happening or where we’re going. On the other hand, I think what we’re going to learn is how to be more curious, more open-minded, and definitely more okay with uncertainty. Which I think is a really healthy spiritual place to be. Because ultimately, everything is pretty uncertain. To be okay with that is going to be very freeing, very liberating from outside conditions. That, to me, feels like Uranus in Gemini right there.
We’re Going to Know Ourselves Better
Part of opening our minds is learning to defer to our own innate intelligence in a new way. I think we’ll actually know ourselves better, and really turn up the understanding volume on what it means to know yourself.
Right now we place so much emphasis on our psychology, and we’re going deeper and more forensically into what that means for each of us. But I think we’re going to understand what the mind is on a deeper level. There’s a book called M-Braining, written by two scientists, that I’m planning to reread. They’ve proven with physical, scientific data that there are indeed three brains in the body: the brain in the head, the brain in the heart, and the brain in the gut. I think we’ll understand that completely over the course of the next seven years.
We’re definitely going into territory where we’re going to understand that the mind is not just from our eyeballs on up.
And in that, I’ll say that astrology is going to, I’m hoping, become one of the most basic accepted ways of knowing yourself. I honestly don’t know of another system that is so plain as day about: here’s who you are, here are your choices, here’s how you can grow or not grow depending on your consciousness. Here are your qualities, very uniquely yours. That’s what a natal chart does. I don’t know of another system that lays it out so simply, and yet with such a range of possibilities.
I’m hoping, and actually really thinking, that astrology is going to boom even more than it already is.
We’re also going to understand more about our nervous system. Perspective shift, nervous system, personal intelligence, curiosity, open mind. I’ll take it ALL.
Unfortunately, we have to take it with a side of revolution. So…
Thanks for reading The Eleven! Do you know someone who likes to think of themselves as stardust? Sharing is caring. 🌝
Where Is Uranus in Gemini Landing in Your Birth Chart?
Here is where this energy is showing up in your life, by rising sign. If you don’t know your rising sign, you can use your sun sign, though a natal chart reading will give you a much more precise and personal picture of how this is showing up for you.
A note on houses: I’m using whole sign houses here because it’s neater for this kind of overview. If you use Placidus houses, the picture may shift somewhat. That’s exactly why a personal reading is so valuable.
Aries Rising
Uranus is going through your third house of curiosity, communication, how you speak, how you listen, how you write, how you learn, how you move through your local world and take in information. People with Aries rising are going to have a whole new perspective on their life as these years unfold. Your attitude will change, perhaps you’ll have breakthroughs in what you actually see in life. Perhaps see you’ve been battling the wrong things…and see what’s really worth fighting for, advocating for, facing and going for.
Taurus Rising
Uranus is going through your second house of resources, what you want, what you value, what you feel you need to prove, what you need. Your self-esteem, your self-worth, your sense of security. Your values are shifting. I think you’ll discover that it’s good and necessary to want something different out of life. Over the next seven years, things will shift so that you see your life, and what you need from it, in a new way. Your definition of “enough” will change.
Gemini Rising
Uranus is going through your first house. Your body, yourself, how you navigate the world. Your whole ego sense of “I am” is shifting. There’s likely going to be a revolutionary spirit unleashed from you as you navigate the world. It’s like your GPS just got a little weirder, and you’re okay with that. Maybe a little more curious about how you could feel more free. Maybe a little more open to showing more of your true colors. You might move your body more, breath more.
Cancer Rising
Uranus is going through your 12th house of spiritual connection. I would expect some surprising mystical experiences, whether you seek them out actively, or they simply happen to you. Especially when you’re quiet. Especially when you’re alone or in some kind of retreat. If you meditate, I would expect those meditations to get pretty trippy in the most liberating, real kind of way. It’s an experience you couldn’t predict, and the effect of it makes your connection to divine source all the more real and a part of your path.
Leo Rising
Uranus is in your 11th house. I would expect new people to enter your atmosphere. Maybe you flow into a new community, finding unexpected new allies, friends. These people might be a little bizarre and help you unearth your little inner revolutionary weirdo. The shape of your tribe shifts. Maybe fresh new perspectives get crowdsourced just from being out in the world with “your people.” You’ll likely find you are seeing some new goals because of how others inspire you.
Virgo Rising
Uranus is going through your 10th house, and you’re entering an era of breakthrough in your career. Your mission could suddenly change or become crystal clear when you least expect it. Maybe you find the calling, or clarify it- or the calling finds you. I would expect surprising developments in your public-facing, purpose-driven, forward-facing self. New ways of seeing your path that might catch you off guard. Pretty exciting if you’re career-driven or on the lookout for a purpose-driven path.
Libra Rising
Uranus is going through your ninth house. What you believe in can shift suddenly. Your vantage point will be different. Your faith will feel different- how you define faith will take on new meaning. The ninth house is the house of beliefs, and you’re getting new inputs, new information. You might be inspired by a new theology or a new style of faith. Maybe you’ll travel more, take unexpected, spontaneous trips- the next seven years have the feeling of traveling somewhere unfamiliar and seeing your life in a completely new way. Though this could also happen on the way to the grocery store. Be open to a new vision, and new beliefs. Let your faith surprise you.
Scorpio Rising
Uranus is going through your eighth house, the house of hidden truth. Things that really need to be exposed, that might be a little hard to expose, will likely surface. But if they are, and your mind opens to what has been in the shadows too long, a massive amount of healing is catalyzed. Big breakthroughs can come through in intimacy, in money and contracts, in the deepest ways we merge with others, bonds that demand honesty and integrity. Mind-opening is what this Uranus transit is bringing you - and it’s also what allows truth to surface. What freedom and lightness you’ll feel from dealing on this deep level of truth!
Sagittarius Rising
Uranus in Gemini is in your seventh house. Your relationships are getting breakthrough energy. Seeing partnerships in a new way, seeing partners with fresh eyes, having unexpected experiences with loved ones, business partners, best friends, anyone you’re on equal footing with. Where things may have become a little dulled or stuck, expect surprising connections, surprising conversations, inspiring ideas that bounce back and forth. Let new connections surprise you, and be curious and open-minded about what freshness you could discover in established connections.
Capricorn Rising
Uranus in Gemini is in your sixth house, really shifting your daily rhythm. Maybe changing how you show up in your job every day, or how you show up to take care of yourself on a routine basis. The pace of your daily life will likely increase. You might get new responsibilities that arise quite suddenly. Or maybe you find a sudden willingness to voice your ideas with new freshness and boldness- often. A sense of independence may move you to say things and then think, oh my God, I can’t believe I said that. The way you show up day to day is changing to the point where you surprise yourself, and probably surprise the people who expect you to be predictable. They’ll get over it, and you’ll feel pretty darn FREE.
Aquarius Rising
Uranus in Gemini is going through your fifth house of pleasure, joy, creativity, self-expression, and children. I would expect breakthroughs in how you relate to your creative power, your creative expression. New energy is being injected into your creative ideas. Maybe there’s an emerging total shift in how you connect with what’s in your heart, or a totally refreshed relationship to pleasure and joy. There’s a kind of extra-brilliance to Uranus in Gemini in the fifth house. Trust your genius. Trust your impulses and your ideas. You might not be able to resist sharing your mind with others- good. You might be surprised at the impact you have.
Pisces Rising
Uranus in Gemini is impacting your fourth house: your private life, your domestic life, your inner life. Your inner reality is getting a jolt of change. There may be more movement at home, literally moving homes or remodeling, or things are shifting in your physical space. But also, what you rely on inside yourself is changing. Your inner landscape is shifting- what felt solid and stable is loosening up. Phew. You could use some freshening of your inner landscape. Stay curious about how you’re changing. Allow what you’ve relied on as your “inner understanding,” about where you come from and who you are, to evolve. Uranus doesn’t always give us many choices about what we need to see. We can’t ignore or deny it, because refusing to change just makes Uranus double down on making us see and change- sometimes quite suddenly.
Do you know someone who would like this? If you would share this issue with them, I’ll send you so much love. Wait- let me just send you the love in advance… ok- done. Sent you the love. Did you get it?
A Final Note
All of the above is very general. If you want to know how this big energy is specifically setting up to shift things in your life, that’s what happens in a natal chart reading. It becomes a much more interesting, deep, and creative conversation when we look at your own chart, because every natal chart is laid out differently. Reach out if you’re curious, aubreythorne.com.
Stay hydrated, stay grounded. This is very electric energy. The pace of life is picking up. The pace of our mental life is picking up. The creativity, the inspiration, the breakthrough energy, the ideas, the brilliance, the “I have to be me”- it’s ALL gathering steam.
Please remember: your mind lives in your whole body, not just in your head. That means we have to take care of our whole bodies to be able to contain this new, inspired, disruptive, exciting, breakthrough energy that we all have access to (whether we like it or not!)
Be brilliant. Big hug.
