Hi.
Astrology gives me a way to understand everything. Not that I actually understand everything- holy moly far from it. I feel like I understand practically nothing, especially the more I learn. But the sky, as an exact reflection of what’s happening here on Earth, offers endless potential for deeper understanding- and I’m always trying to dive up there and have a look at the bigger picture I can’t make out in my little world down here. Perhaps looking at astrology helps me mentally churn less. Worry less. Believe more in optimistic potentials. I know I usually can see “the way out and through” of what can look and feel like impossible, difficult, or awful situations.
But seeing is not enough. We have to DO something from what we see. It’s not enough to see the world’s chaos, our children’s challenges, partnership clashes, the body’s tension, issues with a living situation, or the fact that the business isn’t working… the question is always going to be something like:
Now that you SEE it," what’s in your “cosmic job description” to DO about it?
We all have a role to play somewhere, in other people’s lives, in our communities and world-at-large, in our closest relationships, in our businesses, in our family structures… your personal astrology describes “what is yours to do.” Your dharma. Your path. Your evolution, should you decide to take it on with gusto.
At this point, it’s so second nature for me to look up there to get a better idea bout what’s going on down here, I genuinely don’t know how people navigate major life decisions, raise children, or make sense of global events without some kind of astrological context.
When I see the Saturn-Neptune conjunction happening right as traditional structures are crumbling and new dreams are being created, it helps me stay hopeful instead of panicked (usually.) When I was raising our daughter, it was only because of her natal chart that I could I can see a little clearer why she behaved certain ways, what she might need a little more and less of in life (from me!) and I was able to respond to her needs with informed compassion and creative action, instead of confusion and frustration. I’m not saying I had a Magic Parenting Crystal Ball, but I feel like I had the closest hting to it! (I’m sure I still gave her plenty to go to therapy about, but hopefully her bills will be lower than they would have been without astrology!)
Astrology is my “Swiss Army knife” tool for understanding myself, my loved ones, and the world. I can’t think of another system that helps us humans see the whole picture- the timing, the patterns, the cycles, the purpose behind what feels like unbelievable chaos. I guess I’m trying to say this cosmic language is worth learning, even at the most basic level. It’s comforting. It’s fascinating. It’s encouraging.
Maybe you don’t need astrology to feel grounded and hopeful, but for me, it’s how I make sense of being a part of the life on this planet. It’s how I parent and partner with compassion and understanding. It’s how I stay connected to something larger than my immediate circumstances or the circumstances being created by toxic, crumbling power.
So that’s what I’m trying to share with you here, in the audio posts, the monthly Q & A (there’s one next week), in the breathwork sessions (this Saturday 3/14), and in future workshops (Microdosing workshop coming soon…🍄🟫)
I’ve decided to break The Eleven into two essential perspectives: taking care of yourself & taking care of others. Because astrology isn’t just about knowing your Sun or Moon signs, it’s about being aware of the patterns in the sky to help us make better conscious choices, relate to our friends and family members more skillfully, and love everybody more… well, just more.
With Mercury Retrograde in mind, as well as many planets in Pisces and Aries:
• Try returning to spiritual practices or healing modalities that used to bring you some peace (think of something you might have abandoned a while ago…)Or pick a creative project back up and see what happens!
• Trust the vision that seeps into your dreams or meditation
• Say no to overstimulating, overly aggressive activities. I’m seeing lots of people who need nervous system soothing. We all likely benefit from flowing, releasing, watery energy right now…my solution to this is breathwork. You can just lie on the floor and breathe deeply to music. (Or come to my breathwork class on Saturday! 3/14- info below)
There is hot, impulsive energy in the air that can ignite dry, neglected spots in relationships. But with all this healing Pisces water, we have lots of emotional healing energy we can tap into and direct at the parched, hot places in our lives and communities.
With others:
• Focus on your heart, and speak from your heart. Be watchful of your reactive mind that is racing to fill in the blanks of what you don’t know yet. Ask sincere questions.
• Children and sensitive people are feeling this emotional opening intensely. If you are a “doer,” know that you may have to practice extra patience. Loving validation of what others are feeling helps. So does heart-centered listening.
• Old relationship patterns may be resurfacing. It’s a perfect opportunity now to approach relationships with new compassion and new curiosity.
• If someone in your life is struggling, listen more than trying to fix.
Parenting insight: Kids born with strong Pisces or water sign placements- these are the sensitive, porous, feelers- are especially absorbent right now. 💦 They’re likely picking up everyone’s vibes around them. You can help them see that maybe some feelings are actually their own, and some feelings are what they’re picking up from others. When someone told me this decades ago, it was a revelation. A profoundly healing validation that helped me understand the concept of walking around in an “energy body.”
