An exceedingly quick one this week with a pair of earnest requests…

Set up a Free Planet subscription with your local comic shop! Don’t have a local comic shop? Then my local comic shop, Collector’s Paradise has you covered with a great deal that includes signatures from yours truly on every issue! Just head to bit.ly/GiveMeFP to snag yours!

Free Planet is an ongoing concern; our goal has always been a series length measured not in issues but in feet. But in order for that to happen, in order for us to continue our exploration of the first completely free planet in human history, we need your help. Plus, with guest artists Ilias Kyriazis and Tyrell Cannon (covers below) – the two-issue “Expansion Protocols” story that will NOT be collected in the trade paperback – and another six-issue arc from series cocreator Jed Dougherty, you’ll actually be helping yourself to the richest, most complex and rewarding comic on the racks.

As ever, preordering at a local comic shop also has a tangential benefit: It shows shop owners that there’s continuing interest in the series, signaling that they should order additional copies for their shelves. Plus: It’s the only way you can get access to our fan-favorite letters pages, which also will NOT be included in the series trade paperbacks!

Next up: Please go review Free Planet volume 1 on Amazon. While – for the reasons outlined earlier – I’d much prefer you order the book from your local comic shop, independent bookstore, or my pals at Collector’s Paradise, the truth of the matter is this: Amazon sales and, accordingly, Amazon reviews are crucial for the health of an ongoing series.

I won’t lie to you: The reviews we’ve received thus far on Amazon aren’t great, an outgrowth of how easy it is to leave a review after reading on Kindle, a format that does Free Planet zero favors. Help us counteract these early, misguided judgments with some glowing reviews of your favorite geopolitical space opera!

And that’s it for me! If you’re in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, I hope to see your smiling face at Twin Cities Comic Con next weekend.

Aubrey
