We’re finalizing the project tiers for MythFall Issue #2 this week. This is the part of the process that involves the most math. We dust off our spreadsheets, get quotes from the manufacturers, and figure out what it’s going to cost to pull this thing off.
But we’ve also been getting the rewards finalized and seeing them come in has been a treat. We reached out to Deborah Hauber, the interior artist on Bound By Words, to do an homage cover for MythFall 2. We knew we wanted to do a classic sci-fi homage for MythFall 2, and we cycled through half a dozen different options before realizing that (duh!) the answer is Star Wars.
The iconic movie poster for A New Hope is what we wanted to re-create. Deborah really delivered on the illustration with eye catching colors. I doubled down on the cover treatment with a movie poster design that I hope is worthy. I even picked up the Serif Gothic font used on the original poster.
So how did we do?
I knew right away that I wanted Prince Kavan in Princess Leia’s pose. He occupies the traditional princess role in the story, more so than Leia herself, who could easily eat him for lunch. Rika is driving this issue, so she get’s the Luke Skywalker pose. Coming up in the background are Seth and Jimmy. They’re introduced for the first time in this issue, but will quickly become regulars. Kira looms over this story, their absence felt by everyone in it.
