Move over film, you’re too expensive to develop. I have 5 different film cameras at home, of various vintages and levels of ‘expertise’, but I’ve made the jump back to digital along with everyone else. I still keep my 1999 samsung point and shoot film camera in my bag at all times, but every time I take a photo I think “that’s going to cost me £20 to see one day”. And that’s not even accounting for the cash I blew on the film! So, I bought a Yashica digi cam after ig advertised it to me. I’ve since bought not one, but TWO micro SD cards, neither of which work and both of which immediately crash the camera. Good.

Pitbull played Glasgow this week and I stand by what I wrote about the bald cap movement back in March of 2025. I’ve been to two Pitbull concerts since, the latest being the massive gig at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow last Wednesday, and there’s nothing like it! This! Is! Girlhood! I’ve seen some of the baddest, most gorgeous, clean girl aesthetic girls I know with eyeliner moustaches and a bald cap on. It doesn’t matter what your normal standards are, no one is afraid not to look cute, because they know Pitbull is the cutest of them all.

In the summertime, I’m only ever as happy as my bikini collection is good. I can’t rest without at least one flattering swimsuit in my closet. For years, I didn’t have any. Then, last year in Biarritz, I watched all the surfer girlies in their cool girl bikinis and I learned what shape and colour would suit me. We’re talking a scoop neck halter in a bright colour - something I wouldn’t normally wear, but bright colours contrast well with a tan, and make you look more tan if you’re still a bit pale. The halter is supportive and comfortable, sporty, and yet cute! I got one from pacsun in a bright orange and I don’t think I’m being dramatic when I say it’s changed my life. Never have I ever felt confident in a swimsuit before. Only problem is I wore it in Cornwall and realised for my longer beach holiday (back in Biarritz) later this summer, I need a spare bikini!!!! £41 and an order from pacsun later, I am ready to hit the beach all week. That said, I’ll never ever understand why such a small amount of material costs so so much.

Do you remember them??? Our local corner shop was called “High Variety” when I was growing up. High was the name of the Street (High Street), and because I am Canadian we called it the “corner store”. Every other Friday my sister Steph and I would make the 5 minute walk down the block and around the corner to High Variety. We’d get $1.00 surprise bags (pre-made pick and mix bags), or, if we had a bit more cash, we might build our own bags from the 5 cent candies (pick and mix) and order a slush puppy. My favourite was blue raspberry with two shockers (some sort of syrup that made it sour). Even typing this, my mouth is watering.

See if you ever wanted to get an immediate yes from me, you just need to say the words: Do you wanna go get a slush puppy? I’ll hang at a corner shop any day of the week.

Anyways, tommy lefroy’s new song slush puppy sent me down memory lane and I thought you should come w me.

  1. my husband because when i had a raging post-pitbull hangover he ordered me mcdonalds while he was at work ❤️

  2. my comfy set from aerie; there’s actually nothing like feeling cosy but also still v cute and dressed well enough to leave the flat if you need to. might have to buy a second set when I’m in canada! (similar top, bottoms)

  3. arirang album; listen. we all knew it was coming. you’ve watched my slow descent into korean entertainment in real time. did I ever think that I, a die hard 1D fan, would be willingly listening to BTS? No. But this album has some r&b beats that slotted in perfectly once I’d exhausted my nostalgic spin around the early 2000s a few weeks ago. It was the perfect storm.

  4. daisy london aphrodite necklace; i found this in a trinket box in my room a few weeks ago, it had been knotted and I couldn’t get it undone. i finally freed it and i’ve been wearing it again and i love it sm. I forgot how good my daisy necklaces are for layering!

  5. heytea cloud matcha; the cold foam tastes like cream cheese icing and it’s incredible

  6. hourglass ambient lighting palette; just a reminder that these are unfortunately worth the money. Sephora opens in less than a week in Edinburgh, so if you’re looking for something to buy…. specifically buy the one with bronzer, blush, and finishing powder

  7. uniqlo loose knee length shorts; i am finally embracing my tomboy side and bought these and love love love love them. they will be perfect for my trip to biarritz this summer (wait, have i mentioned biarritz already?)

  8. iced americano with one shot of hazelnut syrup; don’t question it, just try it next time there’s a heatwave

  9. benefit tinted brow gel; i’m only 50% sure this is the actual one i use, why do they all have dumb names? that’s annoying. but the one i use is great, one product, quick and easy and my brows are done

  10. paula’s choice BHA; here to remind you this is great stuff. i had a few acne scars i started using this on and it’s made them look a lot better already! i just buy the travel size because a little bit goes a long way.

  1. One of those old beanie hats that is not ribbed and does not have a lip for hiking. I feel like they were big in the 2000s because I’m sure my brother and my dad both had a bunch of them. Might just have a to steal one from them when I go home in September. Like this one but not that one because that one is not cool.

  2. A microcurrent machine; I’ve never felt more snatched than when a facialist used one on me. I’ve discovered you can get them yourself (is that sketchy tho? be honest).
