Happy Sunday,
We make the best hoodie you can buy. It’s that simple, and we aren’t shy about it. It’s comfortable, heavy, 100% cotton, garment dyed, made in LA. If you think you know a better one, let us know, we are up for the debate.
We know this as a fact, but convincing you or other consumers is a whole different thing. Just making something great, doesn’t mean you can sell it. That is where the marketing comes in, this has always been the hardest part of building Arvin Goods for us. We are creatives, we are product junkies, we are not natural marketers. At some level we just hope that the product speaks for itself and word of mouth takes over. But, thats a big hope. Marketing is all trends, how do you keep your brand messaging consistent but deliver it in the most current way possible. Over the past year or so we have played with all kinds of different visual, and story telling ideas on social media. Some perform, some do not. This year we decided to try something different and tell a product story through a series of videos set in Seattle. The social media “series” is the trend…
After many, many conversations, story boards, ideas, debates. We landed on “someone leaves their sweatshirt behind on a plane, or uber, or something”. Forgetting your hoodie somewhere is a universal experience, and it can be tragic if it’s one of your favorites. The criteria for this was it had to be connecting directly to Seattle locations, and we needed 2 people who could help bring this to life in a funny, fun, and entertaining way. Reminder, we aren’t marketers, we have never made content like this, and generally speaking this is terrifying. Just buy the hoodie!😂 But we worked with some folks to build a team, and create the series, “Your Friends Favorite Hoodie”.
There is nothing more uniquely Seattle than our ferries, so thats where we decided to start the journey. You'll have to follow along as Nathan annoys Robbie through the city tracking down his favorite hoodie that he (annoyingly) left on the Bainbridge ferry babbling about mob movies and Tom Hanks. Check it out, stay tuned, and let us know what you think.
As always, thank you for reading! Enjoy the news below, and we wish you a great week!
Hope you enjoy today’s Clean Up. We would love to hear from you. Comment here on Substack, hit us on social, or email us at info@arvingoods.com. Have a great week. Cheers,
Air’s manifesto makes one thing clear: AI will never replace human creativity - It’s Nice That
Air is a New York-based creative operations platform taking an unconventional approach. As human efforts are deprioritised in favour of fully embracing AI, true creativity seems to have been put on the back burner. But when Air’s CEO Shane Hegde put out a full-page handwritten letter in The New York Times, he made one thing clear: that “AI won’t replace creative work.” Air is further addressing this elephant in the room with the launch of its new report, Beautifully Illogical, and new product, Canvas. This release empowers creatives to take their work, built through their own blood, sweat and tears, and scale it using AI.🤖👨🏼🎨👨🏼💻
Scenes from the Crossing - Seattle Magazine
The first time Kristopher Shinn brought his camera onto a ferry was in 2020, after his sister moved from South Seattle to Bainbridge Island. He went along to help with the move, snapped a few photos, and soon found himself bringing the camera on every crossing. Over the next two and a half years, those crossings became the foundation for By Way of Water, his self-published photo book of life aboard Washington State Ferries. ⛴️ 📸

Fashion for Good project targets textile waste recycling at scale - WWD
The initiative will focus on creating workable systems for sorting and preparing post-consumer textiles that cannot be reused, to turn such material into commercially useful feedstock for recycling operations.
The project addresses the difficulties in using post-consumer waste as a raw material in textile recycling, specifically the need to make it cost-effective and practical for recyclers.Fashion for Good’s approach centres on two main activities, including developing advanced processes for preparing waste textiles and setting up a network of regional hubs to manage the sorting and pre-processing steps.♽👕🏭
