May workshop & show

Hello and happy spring! I know that if you you’re in the southwestern USA, it probably feels like summer already, but here in the northeastern corner, my bulbs are just coming up and the nights are staying above freezing, finally. It feels good to be able to go outside and warm up in the sun.

I’ll start with the news-ish stuff:

Workshop:

I have a workshop starting on May 3rd that focuses on creating diptychs and sequencing your photography for zines, photobooks and exhibits. It’s online and hosted by CPAC. Sign up here: https://cpacphoto.org/diptychs-and-sequencing-creative-photography/.

Show:

I have four gorgeous, meditative prints up at Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Maine, as part of their spring show. If you’re in the Bar Harbor or downeast area, it’s worth visiting not just for the gallery but also for the hiking, restaurants and outdoor adventure opportunities. If you don’t have your own private yacht, there’s the mailboat (yay, because this is how I roll) which you can cruise around on and visit islands for the day or longer. The opening is on May 21st. Other stuff:

I just finished a month of being on crutches for a tibial head fracture (knee area) that happened non-traumatically while I was walking on some ice and slipped a little. One thing about crutches is: your hands are not free! Not for cooking, not for art, not for anything unless it involves sitting. I’m relieved to be back on my feet again (literally) - though a little wobbly. I’m also grateful for the care of the world’s greatest physical therapist. Being post-menopausal sucks in all kinds of ways including the onset of osteoporosis, which translates in the real world to bones randomly failing without much cause. Because of this, I wasn’t making much new work. I did one photoshoot while sitting on a stool and found some cool landscapes that I could photograph from the car window.
