Not Losing. Just Letting Go.

This week, James started Kinder-camp — a two-week prep before Kindergarten officially begins.

He was nervous. Anxious. Scared. His backpack was almost bigger than him, and his face was a mix of pride and panic. How enormous the step must feel to him, in his tiny five-year-old new shoes.

And yet, for me, it was just as enormous in a different way. He’s “only” moving into Kindergarten. But that “only” holds so much. It means he’s no longer my little baby. It means the years will pass fast. It means this is just the first of a thousand goodbyes in small, daily forms.

Letting go is always hard.

And sometimes, it’s so hard we just… don’t.

We stay in jobs we’ve outgrown. We cling to relationships that don’t fit anymore. We keep saying yes to roles, responsibilities, and identities that weigh us down — not because they still serve us, but because they once did.

Sometimes we don’t let go because we feel guilty for leaving.

Sometimes it’s fear — of what comes next, or who we’ll be without this thing…
