The Creativity Project · Art is Play

Bar and I (Shannon) spend an incredible amount of creative energy sourcing, curating, and preparing materials for both children and adults to connect and create. This is a joy for us. We bring our delight, wonder, and curiosity about materials and what they might do and what they can become to every experience. Whether Bar is offering big open studios in her local library or I am offering a chance for teachers to explore playfully as they consider their practice, one thing is guaranteed: people of all ages will leave seeing things (materials, themselves, each other) a bit differently. What happens when teachers have a chance to play? What do they experience? What thinking does it spark? How does it change or reshape interactions with children?

An offering of popsicle sticks, collage material, pipe cleaners and twistie ties yielded an array of responses, both 2D and 3D.
