Reflecting on Black Fae Day in Little Rock🧚🏽🎇

Hello friends!

Welcome to the new people who’ve joined arkansawblk’s orbit and hello to those who’ve been riding with me since the beginning!

Before I get into a reflection about the SUPER FUN Black Fae Day party we had, let me re-introduce myself. My name is arkansawblk (that is pronounced [arkansaw ~ black]) aka Lavender the Herbal Fairy, welcome to my orbit!

I am a visionary and multi-dimensional creative who’s grown an 8 year artistic career as a self-taught painter, writer and event planner. Check out my website. I enjoy quilting elements of science fiction and nonfiction, science and magic, tradition and innovation to explore the complexity and depth of life as a human-being.

Now talking about things I find interesting, let’s chat about Black Fae Day 2025 in Little Rock, AR.

It’s amazing to say that through community partnership {The Village Place, G.K. Turtle Island, 3 Sisters Cotton Candy, DJ Whathedo, Serenity Urban Wellness and many more}, we were able to co-host the second Black fairy party in little ole Little Rock, AR. It truly was a magical day filled with bubbles, fairy wings, grown folks music, entrepreneurship, joy, park food, laughter, dancing, I meannnn it was a vibe if I do say so myself. Any others think so?

I couldn’t have done any of this without my trusted community partner, Dena Patterson of Serenity Urban Wellness. We met a few years ago, what was that 2021/2022, when I first moved back to Arkansas.

We met at local growers meet up hosted by Jimmy Parks at his Rose City urban farm. Jimmy would host gatherings aka kick backs where we’d drink, share gardening knowledge, share fresh produce, play ping pong, and sit around the fire pit and chat. It was real southern, real country, real authentic.

Those were good times. Since then, Dena and I have hosted a variety of events like Black Fae Day, the Winter Solstice gathering, Mother’s Day event, and more. It’s so special meeting other Black unicorns who truly stand by their values, are community-focused, and kind-hearted.

It was February 16, 2024 when I asked Dena to co-host the first fairy party with me. No context, just a spark of an idea. And she said yes! Sometimes it really is that easy. Since then, we’ve built a relationship based on trust, communication, and shared values.

I love when life gifts me reciprocal relationships. When life shows me that things don’t have to be hard and that easiness often produces great fruit. I hope you all enjoy these photos from Black Fae Day 2025. And for my Blarkansans (Black + Arkansans = Blarkansans), thank you for coming out to support and I can’t wait to see you next year.
