What a time to be alive.

Today I am taking to these digital pages to reflect. We have passed the half way mark of 2025 and there has been so much going on. Yet, I find myself unsure of where to start. It’s been such a whirlwind being alive in today’s time and age. Between the increasing presence of ICE/police in communities, to the unpredictable behavior of the current presidential administration, to the uncertainty about whether I should become a doomsday prepper or not. It’s so much happening it feels that change has been the only thing consistent during this time of life.

I find myself re(turning) to nature more frequently these days. Going on morning nature walks, forest bathing, or even picking clover flowers for comfort. The earth reminds me that fighting and change are part of the process of living—even if it’s uncomfortable, messy, and painful. Our ancestors knew this well, and by ancestors I mean people and plants.

Next time you’re surrounded by a canopy of trees, take a look at the ground covering plants and notice who’s fighting and/or working collaboratively for the small rays of sunlight that pass through the tree leaves for their existence. The plants dedication to their survival reminds me that although hardships and chaos continue, it’s also important to trust that people will fight back and find a way to stand tall, it’s part of our nature as people.

During this mid-year reflection it is a good time to notice:

  1. How have I grown since January 2025?

  2. What have I seen come to fruition from an intention/goal I set?

  3. Where have I had to shift in my life because something did not go as planned?

  4. What have I learned about myself this year and how can I apply that new knowledge to guide me for the second half of the year?

  5. What/who has brought me joy and laughter? How can I bring more of that into my life?

  6. What do I need to release because it is no longer supporting my joy, growth, or needs?

We are in the season of Cancer.

Cancer is a sacred reminder to pause, attune to our inner-knowing, trust our path, and trust our purpose for being here. Trust our voice, trust our feelings, trust our hearts, trust our ability to protect ourselves and our family. Often we do a lot of work of learning to trust and forgive others and now more than ever, we need to know that we can trust and forgive ourselves. I’m on this journey myself.

As I notice how the chaotic world impacts me, I also am noticing how much change has occurred in my own life. You’ll find below some updates of my life via photos and videos.

Officially moved out of my Durham, NC apartment. Farewell Durham!
During our drive, my partner and I visited this Ancient Lore Village in Knoxville, TN as a half way point between Durham and Little Rock. We stayed in their Fairy Village Cottage. It was eclectic, whimsical, and the food was pretty good!
One of the activities they had was archery and the other was axe throwing. Tried them both and turns out, archery is pretty fun. I was able to hit the third target which was the furthest from where we were shooting.
Upon returning to Little Rock, my niece graduated from Pre-K. All the students were encouraged to dress up as what they wanted to be when they grow up. My niece was dressed as "The Boss". Can you see her pantsuit?! Not sure where she got the leg cross from, but sis was giving all the energy of "I'm bout my business".
For the final picture, I decided to go bold and got all blue box braids. People have their opinions lol I mean it is conservative Arkansas, but hey, there are way bigger things going on than a black girl with blue hair. Plus, I’m really happy with it. XOXO

2025, personally, has been good to me, which feels odd with everything else going on. However, I’m learning that that is life. The complexity with the simple. I’ll leave you with this final video where I share about completing my Therapeutic Horticulture Certificate and Business Plan!

Thank you for taking the time to connect with me, learn about my journey, and share your energy with me. I look forward to talking next month <3

Sincerely,

Lavender the Herbal Fairy
