While I was in India during the summer, I purchased the Nokia 6.1* smartphone. It is an Android One device.

In India, your phone and your carrier are two separate independent things. Unlocked phones are the default there. That means, to change your phone, get yourself a new phone and put in your old SIM card. To change your SIM card, get a new SIM card and put it in your old phone. Trivial, right?!
