Kevin Hillstrom · Arizona's WeatherHawk!

Did you know that President Taft began the tradition of throwing out the first pitch at baseball games? Also, that image was part of a campaign poster #themoreyouknow.

But I digress.

The next four days? It’ll be what outsiders think Arizona is in the summer.

The European Model shows a high pressure system centered over New Mexico, with southwesterly winds aloft. That’s no bueno unless you are in Northwest Mexico, in which case is is muy bueno for storms. We need upper level winds from the northeast, east, or southeast.

By Tuesday morning, things look more promising.

A week from Friday the US-Based GFS model shows high pressure to our north, with the potential for easterly winds.

The GFS shows thunderstorms roaming about by Wednesday night.

And Thursday night.

Going out into fantasy land (mid-August) the GFS keeps spinning daily storms through Eastern Arizona, moving toward us.

Let’s get through the next 4-5 days. The 8-14 day outlook is promising.
