Dust In The Wind

The Monsoon is raging. Look at the satellite image from last evening. The West Valley is approximated with the “x”.

That’s a whopper down to the south, don’t you think? That storm allegedly spawned a tornado! And severe weather in the Tucson area.

What happens when massive storms collapse? This is from North Scottsdale at about 11:00pm last night.

All that dust in the wind … just kind of accumulated here in the West Valley overnight … leading to dust everywhere and creamy morning skies. And higher dew points.

Today’s storms are already forming (as of 1:45pm). On satellite, the clouds/storms are rotating, suggesting high pressure is nearby.

By 8:00pm tonight, areas near and southwest of Tucson are getting clobbered again.

We could potentially be on the hook again for dust this evening.

Something to just keep an eye on … the HRRR future radar shows light showers in the area around sunrise. Here’s the view at 7:30am tomorrow.

There’s plenty of moisture in Arizona, plenty of storms to our east and south. It’s the peak of the Monsoon. And yet … when something happens we get dust. Dust in the wind.
