Exploring the root cause of viruses

There is much discussion about viruses again these days. What should we be concerned about? Should we worry about viruses that can be “caught” due to exposure to an infected person? At first glance, we might say “of course, everyone knows that!”. But what if the connection between a virus and its ability to be transmitted from person to person is not quite as clear cut as we thought? Could there be other reasons that people come down with a cold or a flu? Let’s explore the root cause of viruses and how to make yourself very resilient in the face of any virus that might come along.

“The belief in disease and cure stands as an effective barrier to a true education in healthful living” - Herbert Shelton

Origin of the Germ Theory

Modern medicine is based on the core assertion that impaired health can be remedied through the use of remedies that fight diseases and vaccines to prevent them. However, despite the passage of more than two hundred years with this knowledge, we have not been able to defeat the cold or the flu, or many other acute diseases. What is typically done is called palliative care; essentially reduce the symptoms until the virus “runs its course”.

Currently our medical system works from the basis of the same flawed theories about the nature of disease. Even though they have not truly solved the issue, this paradigm continues the justification for pharmaceutical medications, including vaccines. But the notion that poisons (allopathic synthetic medications) can preserve or restore health is entirely unfounded; it is impossible to poison a body back to health.

The current model about bacteria and viruses holds on to an essentially deterministic view of disease. This means, it is all about the germ itself and if you get into any proximity of that particular germ, you are completely helpless. The truth is have quite a bit of control over whether that particular pathogen takes hold. The origin of the germ theory dates back to the time when Louis Pasteur did his research around 1861. We have generally accepted that Pasteur’s work was rigorous and honest and obviously the truth. However, a slightly deeper investigation shows us something else about his records and his findings. In addition to this, at that time there was an interesting professional rivalry between Louis Pasteur and his contemporary at the time, Antoine Bechamp. They held quite opposing views about how people become sick.

To give some perspective about how people were already questioning Pasteur’s findings by the beginning of the 20th Century, Dr. M.L. Leverson MD gave a lecture in London in 1911 which he discussed his investigations that had led him to the conclusion that:

“The entire fabric of germ theory of disease rests upon assumptions which not only have not been proven, but which are incapable of proof, and many of them can be proved to be the reverse of truth. The basic one of these unproven assumptions, wholly due to Pasteur, is the hypothesis that all the so-called infections and contagious disorders are caused by germs. I am prepared to maintain that with scientifically established facts, that in no single instance has it been conclusively proved that any microorganism is the specific cause of disease.” With this kind of statement, it is a wonder that the germ theory maintained such prominence in the field of medicine all the way to today over 100 years later. It may be that the paradigm, right or wrong, serves various interests who may want this concept to persist.

Louis Pasteur: The Germ is All

In his 1995 book, “The Private Science of Louis Pasteur”, author Gerald Geison was able to examine the difference between what Pasteur claimed to have discovered versus the dubious methods used in his lab which was documented in his private laboratory notebooks.

It turns out that Pasteur’s reserarch done on this topic (germ theory) was not as bulletproof as one might expect it to be. Actually, there were alot of holes! He set out to prove that microbes only come from other microbes. Geison showed that Pasteur did “prove” the idea, but then again he achieved it through scientific suppression, political manipulation and a massive conflict of interest.

To understand what Pasteur was trying to assert was true, he hypothesized that specific microorganisms (bacteria and viruses) come from outside the body, invade the body, and then cause a specific recognizable disease known to be associated with that pathogen.

This core principle is called monomorphism: one germ has one form and one function. This concept fits conveniently into the allopatic medical model, whose stated goal has been to develop “one pill for every ill.” That is because if it is all about the germ, then the focus will be on the medicine that kills the germ, and then the potential vaccine that will prevent the germ from taking hold. Pasteur’s work, thought it is now known that he did not disclose numerous discrepancies in his research, has become the basis of modern Western medicine and the pharmaceutical industry. Has this work truly improved health? If it has not, could it have been based on a faulty presumption about how people manifest disease?

Antoine Bechamp: The Terrain is All

Antoine Bechamp, who was doing research on bacteria at the same time that Pasteur was doing the research mentioned, proposed that the body’s internal terrain (for example, alkalinity, the gut microbiome, nervous system health) is what truly dictates health and whether someone will manifest an acute disease, such as the flu. He argued that germs are scavengers that are naturally present in the body and only cause illness when the internal terrain degrades.

Instead of monomorphism, Bechamp proposed pleomorphism. This is the concept that bacteria and viruses may change their form, shape, and behavior depending on the environment in which they exist. Germs, as he proposed, existed in the body already as “microzyma”. If the body became acidic, stressed, if one consumed a poor diet of junk food, drank alcohol, etc then these microzyma would mutate into the virus or bacteria and cause symptoms in the person. He recommended that a person focus on maintaining a healthy internal system through nutrition and lifestyle. Which philosophy, Pasteur’s or Bechamp’s, would be more profitable to corporate interests seeking to capitalize on the business of disease?

The microzyma are considered to be the building blocks of all organic life. Bechamp was exploring the concept that these microscopic, granular structures exist in all living cells. The purpose of the microzyma is to build and maintain the person when they are alive, well and thriving. This would be in the case of somone eating lots of healthy organic food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising and managing the stressors of life in a healthy way. The microzyma then remain stable, unchanged and support the overall health of the individual.

The job of the microzyma, however, is also to decompose the body back into the soil when it dies. It may be possible that by eating a junk food diet with little fiber and perhaps also being constantly angry, resentful or emotionally stressed may inadvertently trigger that signal that it is time to begin the decomposing process! When that signal is triggered, the microzymas begin to group together and change. They literally change form! This transformation has a progression. First, they morph into viruses, then into bacteria and finally into yeast or fungi. Each one would represent a step forward in the decomposing process.

You can imagine that many people today might unknowingly consume a diet or live in the type of emotional state that would trigger the signal. The body thinks, “Hey, this person must be ready to begin the decomposing cycle!” We coincidentally have so many people who manifest viral or bacterial symptoms or even find that they have chronic candida (a form of fungus). Stated another way, the virus or bacteria found in a sick person is not the cause of the illness - it is the result of it. If you can grasp this concept, you can transform your health profoundly. Staying healthy and clear of viruses is much more of an “inner job” than we could have imagined and it places the power to do this right in your own hands.

In this model, the virus or the bacterial infection is really our natural form of the clean-up crew, which are generated from within the cells to break down toxic or acidic tissue. Once the toxicity is resolved, the body is cleansed, the microzyma revert from the pathogenic state back to a state of balance and health. A cold or a flu is essentially our body’s attempt to purge the body and clear toxins.

Natural Hygiene

The concept of natural hygiene was spring-boarded off of the ideas of Bechamp and became popularized in the 20th century. You may want to check out “Toxemia Explained” by John Tilden and “The Science and Fine Art of Natural Hygiene” by Herbert Shelton, MD. According to the concepts of natural hygiene, viruses and bacteria are not caused by pathogens but by the buildup of toxicity within the system. It should be noted that toxins can come in many forms, particularly in our currently quite toxic environment today. Consider that the source of toxicity could be autointoxication (caused by poor digestion), heavy metals, herbicides, microplastics and even electromagnetic frequencies (from cell phones, cell towers, WiFi radio frequencies, 5G and more).

In his book, “Toxemia Explained”, Dr. Tilden tells us that:

“From time immemorial people have looked for a savior and when not looking for a savior they look for a cure. They are looking to get something for nothing, not knowing that the highest price we ever pay for anything is to have it given to us. Instead of accepting salvation, it is better to deserve it. Disease is of man’s own building and one worse thing than the stupidity of buying a cure is to remain as ignorant as to believe in cures.”

“Modern cures and immunization are vanity and vexation; they are founded on the foolish principle of reasoning from effect, which is disease, to be their cause. Toxemia explains how the universal law operates in health and disease. One disease is the same as another, one man is the same as another, and one disease can be healed the same as another - by clearing the body of toxemia.”

Restore Your Health

The body is of nature, and like all things in nature, it is a self-healing system. However, in order to allow the body to heal itself, the person must remove the “obstacles to cure”. As a simple example, if someone smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and has a chronic cough, everyone knows that cough medicine will not resolve the issue. The obstacle to cure is the smoking and once that is removed (not always easy), the cough will resolve itself and the lungs will begin to heal. Here are some ways that the natural hygiene movement recommends removing thos obstacles to cure:

  • Fasting - if a person gets sick (cold, flu, other acute illness), then fasting on pure water is the best way to set up the possibility for quick recovery. By taking a break from food and the energy required to digest food, the body diverts all of its digestive energy toward cleansing the body. This goes right along with Bechamp’s ideas. As the body purges and cleanses, the microzyma will revert back to healthy cells and tissue.

  • Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables - Eat a diet primarily consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Chew thoroughly, eat your largest meal at lunchtime. The goal is to prevent digestive fermentation, thus causing the pleomorphic changes in the body as well as the formation of toxins creating the condition known as “autointoxication”.

  • Focus on good sleep - One of the ways the body can be weakened and more susceptible to illness is “enervation” or basically completely stressed nervous system. Go to sleep before 10pm when possible, with the sweet spot according to Chinese Medicine being at 9:30pm. This gets you into bed well before midnight. Each hour you are asleep before midnight is very powerful and almost counts as two hours of sleep after midnight. In Chinese Medicine, this time is within the window when the triple burn/san jiao is most active. Being in bed by this time allows your body to shift profoundly into a restorative mode. It is similar in Ayurvedic medicine, which may explain it even better. The hours from 6:00-10:00pm is kapha time. During this time, earth and water elements dominate. This creates a heavy, grounding and dull energy in the body and allows you to fall into a deep sleep by getting to sleep by 10pm (and the 9:30pm time allows you that time to unwind before falling asleep).

  • Get exposure to sunlight - Strive to get some exposure to natural sunlight (face and arms at least) for 30 minutes each day. Natural sunlight is needed for cellular vitality.

  • Dring pure water - Drink the best quality water you can find. Spring water is one option, while some people prefer reverse osmosis or distilled water.

  • Master your emotions - Learning to cognitively process emotions in order to decrease time spent in anger, rage or resentment. These adversely affect and suppress the immune system as usually cortisol is high during these times.
